Atacs have a narrower q factor so that will also affect your knees. When my wife got her fit they switched her from atac to spd and it resolved her knee problems since it widened her feet up. Ymmv. There’s a lot of factors with knee issues

i love atacs and have shit knees. i always buy the 4. haven’t been disappointed yet.
Looking at the retention mechanism, it seems like atacs could feel a lot like eggbeaters. Anyone compared the two? Do atacs also lack a positive stop to let you know where release point is?

Been out of the watching products every day game for awhile now. What’s the current best-bang-for-your-buck 11sp Shimano Road Tubeless Rim Brake everyday training wheel set? Nothing special needed, just everyday training wheels for my road bike.
ATACs feel like the retention ramps up a bit before the release in my opinion. I wouldn’t call it a positive stop but there is feedback.
I have never used eggbeaters so I can’t compare.
Eggbeaters are pretty fragile; I used them for a while (only about 3000 miles) and managed to wear through a couple of sets of cleats (and then the pedals started to fall apart, so I gave up on the whole experiment.) Atacs don’t have a positive stop except for increasing pressure as you rotate your foot and force the spring latch open.
I used atacs exclusively for a long time. Always felt so solid. The cheap ones (metal body) felt more solid than the nice ones but are WAY heavier.
Never mind. Just looked up the new ones. Looks like they don’t make the cheap alium anymore.
FYI the new Speedplay off road pedals are really fucking good. Like XTR good but with out the centering float and possibly with even better platform feel.

I was looking at those, this makes them sound absolutely awful, especially given the usual bike press cheerleader reviews.

I can’t get my head around how those work, and based on how much I hated Speedplay X-whatever road pedals I’ll probably just forget about these.

Fred’s right. These are NOT mtb pedals. What they are though is not just a recessed cleat road pedal, but the BEST recessed cleat road pedal.

anyone ever fuck with the ht leopard pedals? i have a pair but they felt sketchy (but the shoes i had often had pedal interference) and the extra float cleat doesn’t seem to be available anywhere stateside. seems like an atac met an spd and i want to like them

TCX is currently 1x11 with a SRAM S950 crank (direct mount compatible). I have a 39/26 chainring set with spider from an older X7 crank.
Dumb idea to put on the TCX with 8020 kit 2x11? I’m not really allowed to push hard gears for a good year, so I’m thinking 11-34 and 39/26 if possible…
That sounds awesome. I’ve wanted to get that combo of direct mount road crank and put an MTB spider on it but never been able to find the bits (used, not paying retail for this experiment)
Will the pusher work on the smaller radius rings and also not hit the chainstay? I’d give it a dithering bash for sure

X7 spider will not fit carbon road arms. Different shaping. Lame.
