That was my friend’s dream for years. After being the head wrench at a co-op for a while, He started a mobile repair business on his bike, expanded that to a sprinter van and finally got to the point where he could open https://www.bikesandbeansboise.com/
I think he’s doing alright, sells a lot of small parts and keeps a small inventory for new and used bikes. 3 repair stands and 2 wrenches.

I was just trying to remember the name of this place. I bought a Raleigh One-Way there in 2007 but didn’t jive with it. Ended up slapping a parts bin saddle on it and selling the bike to a kid who was working at the farmers market for a stack of 5s and 10s. Then sold the Brooks saddle on CL and managed to actually make $30 on the whole mistake.

I actually took a wheel apart to do this lol. I felt kinda bad to break down a complete wheel but it was from my ex’s bike and had a Alex 650b rim on it so I was never actually going to use it that way shartmo

The real tool isn’t that expensive?!
Still costs more than “paid for” in this case.
I thought long and hard about it and I was better off breaking down a wheel I’d never use than buying a tool I’d probably use once

Something flat with a hole in it to go between the washer and the riv nut that you can hold to keep from spinning works nice.
Yeah honestly all you really need is a QR and some sort of spacer that’s about the size of whatever it’s supposed to be clamping. Which can be a hub or even just the axle or an appropriately sized wood block
