I’m stuck on the idea of liquidating my Salsa Vaya and Lynskey Pro 29 to build a Black Mountain La Cabra. Would this be stupid?
La Cabra takes mtb wheelset, so I could swap wheels b/w my timberjack for 27.5+ and 29 nonsense. All my rides these days are on increasing rugged backcountry loops going solo. I have my Atlantis that takes the brunt of fat tire road bike / gravel these days.
Seems like a sensible plan to me!

what cleats do pd-m747 take?
standard shimano spd?
yes
No. Very smart. Ask first.
I was talking to the peddle guy
what top tube bags are compatible with the jandd frame pack?
what cable actuated road pull (sram) flat mount brakes should i get?
or should i just go down the adaptor rabbit hole?
you should get hydros, fukka cable dick
out of budget unfortunately. i do actually have some force 22 jawns but i need to rebuild a caliper because i’m a moron and then they’re still post mounted it: wait could i just swap the calipers for flat mount?
All of the mechanical Sram hydro road stuff uses the same fluid volume, so you can absolutely just get some flat-mount hydro calipers.
If you stick with mech for some reason… Hayes + adapters are still the best bang for the buck IF you can find them now that they are discontiuned.
Aside from that, I can’t sing the praises of the Growtac brakes enough, but they are pricey.
hayes i already have. force 22 hydro with PM i already have (though i blew one of the seals by being a moron). growtac is out of budget unfortunately. swapping for FM seems like a good route to take i think. the force stuff is gathering dust and it never hurts to have a spare set of rival shifters laying around for a rainy day
Having recently dithered in this space, Juins are decent for the money. Shimano RS305s were out of stock at the time, so I’m still curious if they’re at least a not terrible solution.
Ask me in a couple months
I have been happy with juin tech with sram mechanical levers. This setup replaced shimano hydro on the previous iteration of the bike.
I bought some cranks from this place and went back to look at cassettes and chains - this is a fake chain they’re selling right?
What are they retail in the US? I have a buddy going back to Japan in December. Would love to have some blue ones for dither/matchy needs on my Ocoee.
i think a set is about $360usd.
