Not sure about the orange BOAs, but probably Squirrel Approved.
Fondled these this week. They feel really good.
They’ve also got some other flat-pedal models that look pretty good. Nice to see that they moved away from the “deck shoe” sole/tread pattern.
The cheap ones seem like trash. Super duper flimsy feeling soles.
That’s too bad.
I’m wondering if PI will be able to snag some market share from adidas/Five Ten. Between the pandemic and switching over to adidas’ distribution/warehousing, it’s been downright impossible to get Freeriders and Freerider Pros this year.
Etnies is giving Fiveten/Adidas some competition. All of their shoes are using Michelin rubber.
Camber Crank
Marana Crank MTB
The Etnies shoes are, IMO, too stiff. Very little in the way of pedal feel (at least for the Marana Crank models).
Supacaz has shoes now?

new clipless sambas look pretty good imo
New Adidas are laceup, which is dumb for a road shoe. They should have done the three stripes with Boa cables.
I was excited about them because I’m a gen x dad, so of course I like vaguely retro looking Adidas trainers.
Before they rebranded them as Mavic the Adidas stuff that came to the US market in the early 00s was really good. Compared to some of the other players it was pretty ahead of the times.
Oh yeah, there was a whole world of big sports brands trying to grab a share of the Lance Era US cycling market. I had a pair of DMT road shoes that were the same at Nike’s top-of-range shoes; DMT had the production contract for Nike and, if i remember correctly, there was some disagreement between the companies about whether DMT was allowed to sell the design under their brand.
$5 says that Adidas wind up focusing on indoor bikes / peleton stuff, because it’s a less weird segment of the athletic apparel industry.
Also there’s some fucking $$$ there and competitors aren’t as established.
and the technical requirements of the garments are entirely within the parameters of yoga/aerobics stuff. Make the same garment, sell it to the same people twice!
Nike has been on the indoor cycling shoe thing for a while now.
$120 for those?? Hell no. My feet sweat but not enough to spend that much on a shitty shoe. I’ll just slice up some normal shoes if it comes to that.
Peloton owners gonna peloton
That reminds me, it’s the time of year I dither over SPD sandals but never actually buy any. Already hitting 100 freedom degrees here and summer hasn’t officially started yet.
