Looks like neither the Berthoud nor the VO come with hardware?
I just bought a stick of 3/16" 6061 aluminum rod for a few bucks, and bent it over a can of wd-40 and trimmed after install.
Did this too, but it required a wrap of tape on the stay for my p-clips to properly grip. Since then Iâve ordered proper 3/16" p-clips, tho they are slightly bigger/uglier than honjo hardware.
i just tweaked the 5mm p clamps i had slightly so theyâd grab. I tried using these but they required drilling up the bolt hole and still didnât hold quite enough for my liking.
No hardware for just the stays, but we have full hardware kits as well as a la carte. https://velo-orange.com/collections/fender-parts
these things look fancy as hell though.
Wut? I thought the term âRoad Plusâ or âRoad+â was code for 650b?
PDW appears to be taking liberty with the phrase.
Doesnât R+ mean 40+mm tires? A âR+â fender that can barely clear a Nomad 28 (and which wouldnât clear a Confrerie if it was reradiused to 650b) is a horrible sick joke.
Those fenders are relevant to my interests.
Wouldnât a frame that could fit those 37mm fenders likely also fit their âTownâ 45mm fenders? Seems too close to really require a new model.
Yeah, as stupid as the moniker is, âRoad Plusâ was definitely meant to indicate 650b, as WTB (who coined the term, as far as I can tell) was marketing their new 650b tires as an option to run on road or cyclocross bikes which fit wider tires and had disk brakes. To the extent that it means anything, it most certainly isnât just fat 700c tires.
Yep. Those are hybrid fenders.
IIRC the PDW fenders are fucks to install, whereas the planet bike ALX are easy peasy and cheaper.
SKS?
I had a pair of PDW fenders for like 3 weeks before I got a stick in them and exploded them. PDW didnât give a fuck so I replaced them with cheap plastic fenders.
I love plastic fenders. Seriously. Theyâre light, they install easily, theyâre pretty cheap so if they get fucked itâs not so sad.
Tehschcklooot showed me a nice trick - take some steel wool and buff dem black plastic fenders to make em look fancy. Works so gud.
I do too but Iâm not sure why my lbs favors metal and alu fenders, maybe just less rattle and the clearances are tighter?
Alu fenders feel like the higher end product.
Current bike has vo fenders. They are nice. I feel like at wide size they are substantial enough to take some abuse. 700x2x will be plastic fenders probably forever.
metal fenders are a little less wiggly than plastic; maybe thatâs why?
wiggle bike, wiggle fork, wiggly fenders?
