fixed gear freestyle is the new aggressive inline

So what you’re saying is that DC is becoming Seattle.

I wonder what that means politically.

oh. business skirts & sneakers is fucked up.

roller blades are still alive 'round these parts in the middle of america. aggro blading i’ve only seen once though, and i lol’d.

Barely 'round these parts. I forget those things exist, then from time to time I’ll see some dude who looks like he’s on his way to wait tables in blades with a shoe in each hand or something. Then I chuckle and remember all the good times I had watching the X GAMES as a youf.

There’s a whole crew of roller-bladers/fixed gear guys around here. They get a ton of shit, but probably deserve even more.

full disclosure:
i taught inline skating to help make ends meet about 10 years ago.
most of my students were either 6 years old or 40 year old house wives.
i volunteered to take at risk youth to a skatepark every friday night for about 2 years.

i saw some kids XTREME rollerblading a few weeks ago. it really surprised me because they all looked like they werent old enough to remember when that shit was huge. i was like wtf then continued on my way.

I still have some skates somewhere, for hockey. Though, I don’t ever play. I was a washed up skate punk that couldn’t ollie a brick by the time aggressive inline became a thing. I had a roommate that did it for a while (this was back in '94). It was stupid then, too.

just saw a fat kid doing passive aggressive inline at the skate spot. it was pretty sad.

“That’s ok. You go ahead. I didn’t really want to take my run right now anyway.”

“That’s ok. You go ahead. I didn’t really want to take my run right now anyway.”[/quote]

beautiful.

I kinda think that parkour is actually cool. It’ll never be a scene, though.

I saw some rollerblader kid fighting another random kid at a skate park a couple weeks back. It was pretty hilarious.

I saw some kid grind a 20+ set of stairs with 2 kinks in it. Very impressive.

wouldnt go that far, in terms of amplitude (often synonymous with stupid) it’s hard to touch aggressive inline. fgfs is still trying to decide if they want to be a half baked version of flatland bmx or street bmx

off the top of my head this is pretty cool

the truth:
I used to aggressive skate.
Then I started riding fixed.
AYHSMB.

One of my best friends and was a semi-pro rollerblader, “flowed” by a few companies in the late 90’s/early 2000-2001. Then I lived in a house with bunch of other rollerbladers (4 of them, one of me). So between them, and all their associated friends, I know probably the only people left in “agressive inline” still running mags or making videos. I think I’ve even got a Senate backpack from like '98 kicking around my dad’s barn, and maybe some Transit jeans from like '95 or so. And oddly a few broken (pre-4X4) 4X4 prototype bits that ended up being passed around as either inside jokes or souvenirs. Yet I’ve put on rollerblades all of 3 times in my life.

lots of people still rollerblade. its actually been growing in the last few years.

http://www.rollernews.com/ is like the tarckbike.com of rollerblading at the moment. except more news-y and less forum-y.

i dunno it may just be the fact that im from Boise and we happen to have a big scene here and Erik Bailey grew up and lives here

heres his segment in We Are Valo 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqHRZ9MT3vk

and a recent edit of him skating in Boise/Treasure Valley whatever: http://www.vimeo.com/4082418

if you know anything about rollerblading you know that what Erik does on a daily basis is absolutely fucking incredible. he may be a trendy dood, but the guy can skate.

and then just for good measure heres Jeff Stockwell destroying parks abroad: http://www.vimeo.com/2656739

i has <3’z fer Jeff Stockwell.
