re: pantschat
Cadence jeans came today, they are hella comfy and have a nice fit, am keeping although their durability is a little dubious we will see.

So, gorrilla tape. This stuff? Seems like 25mm would just about fit my rims perfectly.
That one can soak up sealant eventually and leave a gooey mess.
The clear one is much better. I tape to one edge, press down the center and cut off the rest with box cutter.
Thank youse! Ordered that clear tape, WTB valves and Stan’s sealant.

That sounds incredibly unappealing to me. My OCD tendencies would make that a 45 minute task at least.

lol it’s clear tape
I just trace along the bead hook. That leaves just enough extra to completely cover the rim bed edge to edge
I like clear gorilla tape better than the ones with crisper texture (like stans or 3m) because you don’t have to pull so hard to lay it down smooth
Taping the edge down is important or the sealant can creep under the tape and you’ll have a leak.
I used this on sup’s Hellga to go tubeless. Not cotton based like gorilla, so less likely to soak up and leak.

So just to be clear, I want to cover the ENTIRE rim bed, sidewall to sidewall?
Bead shelf to bead shelf
for what it’s worth, I’d stick to stans style tape on stans rim. already a super shallow rim bed so anything thicker is liable to make it realllly hard to mount tires.
What’s yer preferred cheap helment lamp for riding in dark woods?
I have a bar mounted light (B&M Ixon Core). Looking at sub $50 stuff.
Ok, so pantschat.
I bought two pair of those bulletprufe jeans. One in the “slim” fit and one in the “adventure” fit.
The ‘adventure’ fit is a little too adventurous for me and I’m not even a tight pants guy. They fit my fatass ok but not optimally. They don’t really taper at all.
The slims on the other hand are perfect for me. not too tight, not too loose.
The material of both is glorious. Soft and supple right out of the package with plenty of stretch. On the bike they are excellent. Very comfy. The seams are triple stitched and everything feels very, well, bulletprufe. We’ll see how they hold up over the long term, but for now they’ll be my go to pants.
good to know, i was thinking about buying a pair of those and wasn’t sure how their fits would work out. sound like as i suspected.

The cordura shorts I got from them fit me better than almost anything I’ve owned. It’s amazing. I want to buy another pair.
What’s a good handlebar mounted GPS to keep me from getting lost in the woods? Looking for something to display a map with programmable map points. Looking at Garmin, anything else?
The smartphone you already have plus a QuadLock case?
Smartphone and peripheral battery
Not what I’m looking for. I have a hard enough time not destroying my phone in my pocket, strapping it to my bike is a death sentence.
Get a fancy holder.
I have the garmin touring plus and it’s fine except for the battery life, the outdated expensive maps, and the occasional dropped satellites. My phone is way more reliable.
