P sure you are supposed to spray w/ dwr coating every few washings. Also p sure you can do this at home. Never have personally though so maybe that’s not true
oh, u rite. How to care for eVent fabrics products | eVent Fabrics
I swear I was doing some internet research a year ago and read something about only laundering was necessary, recommended no waterproof treatment. Ooops
You’re not crazy. This is news to me.
I’ve seen Hincapie eVent jackets going for cheap lately. Also, check out the Wiggle house brand dhb eVent jacket. Should be restocked by the end of January. I might grab one.
If someone made a well-fitting black eVent jacket with few or no pockets and maybe pit zips, I’d buy 3.
re: rain jackets
so far polartec neoshell is the only material I’ve tried that actually breathes pretty well. I have a giro jacket I bought cuz pro deal and its rear pocket zippers are hard to operate with gloves and the zipper is not waterproofed but otherwise it’s pretty sweet. in my experience it breathes noticeably better than eVent.
Anyone tried these before?$36 isn’t bad if they’re comfy for long rides
I got a few pairs without pads from my ex-girlfriend, and they suck. They stretch out after a few miles in the saddle, and then they start to bunch up. Then the movement of the pants starts to push the underwear up my leg. I couldn’t like them much less than I do. I have some cheap one from Target that are great. As far as padded undershorts go, the Mavic Stratos are still my favorite, by far.
I don’t really think so since the eVent fabric hasn’t really been very waterproof lately (even after washing which is apparently how you bring back the waterproof qualities). Most of the reflective piping has also flaked off so it might be ending its lifespan.

It’s REI, tell them you expected it to last longer, get a store credit, and get another one. They’re not gonna argue with you.
I see a lot of showers pass jackets in PDX, but that mostly is because they’re from here. You can certainly do worse.
POC makes a real expensive 3 layer DWR jacket (basically the same thing as Gore Text Pro or Active shell) that is black, packable, and has one back pocket.
It also comes in a TAF orange
also it costs like $300 cuz reasons. But for real if you want a rain coat that is more than just a plastic bag with the new age version of scotch guard sprayed on it you are going to pay at least $200.
Also I fucking love double zippers, but have not seen a single one on any gear with welded zips which are basically standard on high end coats.
I would go with GORE, POC, or that Rapha Jawn.
Also Fuck Paclite.

their eVent bike and run jackets have been out of production for a couple years, got replaced with generic plasticbagwear
they started using eVent again recently, but only for their dumpy unfitted backpacking dadwear vertical
Any tarckdads have good recommendations for baby helmets? My daughter has a 1 year+ and it fits alright it’s just so bulky it doesn’t fit well in the carrier seat and she can’t look around and check shit out all that well
Ro’s first was a Giro Me2 like the above. Worked well atmo. I really cannot recommend the general style with the foam “visor” that extends out enough. Every time he’s had a significant fall he went face first.
Thanks guys I think I’m going to go for that lazer. They look good and compact

This is good advice. I’ll look for something like this when she gets a little older and starts getting on a coaster bike
