I think that when my kid figures out that she can take stuffed animals for rides, the Xtracycle is going to get really really crowded. Peppa and Boots and Minnie and Elmo all the other well-advertised characters will be cruising around the East Bay. I guess to keep this on the topic of gear recommendations: what carabiners are best for securing stuffed animals to cargo bikes?

Seriously, my kid is pretty good at hanging on to shit when we’re riding.
Yeah, surprising strength and dexterity. On our last ride, my kid spent ten minutes poking me in the butt with a half-eaten granola bar. riding around with a bunch of stuffed animals would be a huge step up, dignity-wise.
I might mount a tiny basket behind the saddle in the saddlebag zone so he can put his drink in there or something.
I was thinking the same thing. I have an old Jandd saddlebag that I can lash to the railing, it would fit one of those teeny Kleen Kanteens pretty nicely.

edit: or mount it flipped and put a basket on top. I bet depending on what you need could be mounted to seat stays instead of saddle rail.

I have that Profile Design buttrocket water bottle holder (for long distance rides, not for tri). I tried it for kid drink storage, and liked the idea, but 1. they’re really grippy (which is good for pacelines, bad for toddlers) and 2. I need about 87cm of saddle-bb extension, my partner needs about 69cm, the lower position is not workable with the bottle holder. It’s a bummer, because it’s an otherwise good option for storing drinks and snacks. I think the “Hooptie” rails on the Xtracycle are too big for this particular mounting bracket http://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/accessories/water-bottles-cages/vo-handlebar-to-water-bottle-cage-mount.html but the general idea might work.
The kid generally seems happy to go anywhere, by any means of conveyance, as long as there’s a steady stream of snacks and drinks available. If I can sort that out, I can start taking her on the Wildcat-Bears loop or the Redwood-Pinehurst rodeo.

I bought the rapha padded undershorts before I saw what you guys said. Rapha seemed to have removed all non-positive reviews from the entire internet outside of tarck. It was my first rapha purchase and most likely my last.
I wore them for three days straight. They were not completely horrible. The legs bunched up a bit and got a little irritating. Without the pad they probably would have given me a giant wedgie. On the positive side, they were not stuffy and I didn’t get any chafing.
