Gear Recommendations (old)

Looney Bin Will hold a liter Nalgene but I don’t think it could hold that much and withstand trail abuse

It’s held 40oz for me hoping curbs and doing dumb shit. Should be fine.
the anything cage v2 is no bueno?

v2 is ok, I would just spend the extra $5 and get the HD. It’s a lot nicer, ATMO.

Re: sweatband cap - I have a head sweats (or rather several athletic hats, one cycling cap) and they all do a great job at sweat management for me (8/10 on sweat intensity scale)

Re: 28mm Ones grip excellently but wear fast and cut too easy for non-tubeless. GP4K tubed (though clearance might be a concern as they’re pretty big), One if tubeless. My garage is exactly this right now (well except for the cross knobbies)

I’ve used it for literal trail abuse, smashing it into rock on the underside of my downtube

the ease with which the plastic flexes is a little alarming but it hasn’t broken or had the plastic yield (the way velocity cages turn white where they stretch out)

can also vouch for schwalbe one 28s wearing out quickly. they pick up more nicks and cuts than any tire i’ve ever ridden

this is good news - i just got another one that I plan on putting under the downtube on my hambiek

Get me into the best Waldo basket.

I like the 9x12 ones, model 1370 or something. big enough for a good amount of crap and small enough it’s not hella unwieldy and you can strap bags and accessories and shit to it without it getting too wide or front heavy

I have a “Wald 137 Front Bicycle Basket (15 x 10 x 4.75)”
It’s the right size for my bags. Reusable grocery sack fits like a glove.

I’ve got the giant one. Good for riding with my 15lb dog. Main problem is that you can put soooo much stuff in it that’s easy to over-do it. On my hybrid, I can fit a solid load of groceries in the basket but the handling gets mucho sketchy in a way that it wouldn’t if those same groceries were in panniers on my LHT. And it weighs a ton. But having had the big boy I think it would be hard to go smaller now.

any size is right, I like the 137 but some friends have the 139

get the black one with the adjustable legs, which also makes the handlebar clamps removable

On the KOG fork you could strap the basket to the fork crown bosses instead of the handlebar, with L-brackets bolted to the back of the basket using fender washers (and/or bar stock straight across the bottom). You need to use M6 bolts with an external hex head at the crown for clearance and proper torque.

what?

You can, or could at one point, buy just the adjustable legs. They really are a must, stronger (ime) and gets the load down low.

this is model 1372 if anyone was wondering.

how does this fit between 42cm drops with sram shakes? math says it will have an inch which is shitty.

This is a great plan. I had to chase the threads on those bosses cuz they were clogged up with paint and nobody had ever used em.
Edit: this one?

2 - 3 litre bar bag that’s cheaper than a fancy poopbarner, but not as horrible looking as a jandd?

what?
there’s a deluxe hinged version of the handlebar clamp that works with 31.8, and comes off too

or Rusty could just cut off the standard handlebar bits if he’s porteurifying it

Huh
I have the standard black with the adjustable legs

does it fit with regular guy modern road bars with shakes?
