Amy, thanks. I’ll get back to you on that when I return from Seattle with toast.
I just tried to ride the rollers and I only lasted 15 minutes before I was overcome with boredom. I hate winter and I wonder why I still live in a cold-weather climate, although I guess this post is more for the “winter” thread.
Seriously.
can you get a movie out in front of you?
My friend used to use his trainer with aerobars so he could play playstation at the same time. Sounds like it’d work pretty good.
FWIW I became a 3 on the track by only training when I feel like it and drinking the milk of willing she wolves.
'nuff said.
this sounds awesome
i upgraded to cat 2 just from my posts on tarckbike
I “trained” for this last season by quitting smoking a month before and going on my first ride that was longer than 10 miles like a few weeks before the season started and I got upgraded to a 3 on the track.
Probably, but for as competent a bike handler as I consider myself, I need a surprising amount of concentration when I ride the rollers, or else I go flying.
Is this the official training thread now? If so, I want to suggest this.

I picked one up on eBay (after trying to special order one for two months), and so far it has been one of the best training tools I’ve ever bought. I use it to smooth out my legs after every ride or run, a long day at work, or even a day spent doing nothing, and it really, truly works and makes a substantial difference. I feel like I’ve been sleeping better, as my legs are more well-rested and I don’t wake myself up kicking. It definitely works best with shaved legs - when I was hairy, it would tend to grab and I didn’t feel like I was getting down as deep (probably do to hesitation). I haven’t had the opportunity to use it before or after a race yet, but I plan on packing it in my bag henceforth, and using it as-needed.
In the summer when I was racing 2-3 days a week, I found that this little electronic massage thing on my legs helped a lot. Don’t want to get too dependent on those things though - your legs may feel fresher but you can still overreach/overtrain yourself if you keep pushing it for awhile without proper rest/recovery/nutrition, atleast in my experience.

I prefer these over a rolling pin. My roommate has one that I use. He’s getting married soon and moving out. So, yeah I’ll be in the market… GB?
