get me into winter cycling

specialized gloves are best buck bang atmo

my roommate has them and i have a hard time keeping my hands warm at any temperature under 40. the base layer is super comfortable.

hard time with those gloves? or in general?

need new winter gloves for sub freezing temps. thinking giro 100 proof, but might look at those instead.

I was looking at these at the shop today… I thought they were too bulky.

our fitter guy recommended the Radiant glove. said he loved em from last year. http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/SBCEqProduct.jsp?spid=64331
I liked em but we didn’t have my size in stock.

I bought some booties and the Deflect tights. they worked great!

One tool gone! Next Ray made stud tool goes to first to PM me the story of how Tarck started and one of the founders screen names.

Two tools gone

what is a ray stud tool?

rode with these for an overnight 200k with temps down into the low 20s

worked amazingly, with no liner needed. maybe used the “mitten” portion half of the time.

like this:

but Ray made with nice knurled handle

I’ve got something like that. the ones that REI sells…use them for work lifting stupid heavy shit & pallets. never rode with them, though. not sure I’d have the same success. I had frostbite from some backcountry winter lulz. tips of fingers are extra sensitive to cold. used PI robster craws for a couple years & they worked for me, but left them at a bar. might just get those again.

i dont need stud installers, but the stuff ray makes it top-shelf!

also abe called it, albeit off by 2 weeks. its gonna be a soggy one this year.

my ‘nam knee is actin’ up

I decided to take a week off the bike coz hurt knee running and shit weather.
Holy shit the rain

Nice review on the jacket Doug, I have questions

hmm. i’ve never had any success with synthetic gloves, other than these for 35-50 degree days. tried various hard shell/soft shell options from a bunch of ski and bike brands, nothing quite worked right.

obviously different tastes for different folks, but i’m pretty sure this is the last pair of winter gloves i’ll ever need to buy, unless i move somewhere that gets below 25 frequently.

dood it is caused by the rian. i am now sure of it.

I drove to the coffee shop this morning and watched it just continually rain sheets from 730-830. It was that “completely drenches you completely” style rain with light obviously headwind for any bikers. This is the first week this whole year I did not ride to work at least 2 days. I’m going to check my basement tomorrow for any leaks.

in general. anything below 35 and i’m wrapping my hands around a mug of tea at my destination with my current gloves or taking the subway

I can see that. everything above the wrist felt bulky as hell. the ones I tried on today had one of the shells sewn wrong so it was super tight around my pinky. that made the entire shell feel ridiculously bulky. I need to wait a week for more to get in stock to see if another pair in that size will fit better.

I have a pair of fleecy “cold weather” gloves that are not waterproof nor bike specific that I would be happy to send you for nothing if you want them. Never worn, size large.
