Hey, Fookers -- aka, the pedal thread

Boy I wonder how a plastic pedal would’ve fared yesterday evening when I pedal struck a tree stump hard enough to twist my bars on the steerer before I hopped off the bike.

Can’t you rebuild those Atlas? Um, , how much do you want for those want for them?

I’m feeling a way
and am feeling a foppy pull from riv
for some MKS monarchs/gammas

is this dumb?

Yes.

probably but I think they look cool. I have the lambdas on my clydesdale and they’re nice but I do wish they had pins

I should have added a little more info last. I tried these on a bike that had Race Face Ride pedals and ended up liking them a lot. Kind of foppy, good grip (more than the Ride, less than the Chester), bearings feel better, nicely sized and not weirdly shaped platform, and reflectors since they’re on a commuter. Blue Lug sells black/silver versions if you want to get fancy.

Literally been running the same Time Atacs MTB pedals since 2009. Not kidding.
Should I get new Atacs or is there something else out there that is better? I don’t even remember why I switched from SPDs, I think I was trying to solve a shoe problem by getting different pedals at the time.

we really liked atacs in 2009!
as far as what to upgrade to? idk I don’t think anyone rides bikes anymore

(I’m an SPD to the grave type of shithead)

i have never been a clipless guy but a few friends of mine from the courier world ran this account for a while https://www.instagram.com/atac.cult

pretty much all my friends run those old atacs if they’re running clipless for some reason

Ebay has a bunch of the Aliums in half decent shape for like $50. If I can get a pair that was used half as much as mine I’ll be good for another decade. Gonna give that a go.

what kind of bike riding, I might have some ES600s that can be stuck in an envelope if this is road focused

also I bought the MKS Gammas because sometimes a small purchase is all thats needs to curb larger impulses, and theyre really nice

I’m still running a set of Aliums from forever ago. I sold my others and a pair of those yellow ATACs (that belonged to some famous PDX guy) to someone on here.

i cant quit my time atacs. ive got a yellow set that came off mrs pears’s 1996 klein attitude and theyre still going strong. even tried to switch over to the newer Speciale time pedals and they didnt have the same kerchunk that the atacs have when clipping in.

I have 2 pairs of aliums and 2 pairs of gen1 atacs and feel like they’ll last me the rest of my life.

never mind that I mostly ride flat pedals.

I did alium’s exclusively when I rode fixed clipless. Was there ever any truth that they were less likely to eject you than spd if you were doing sweet brakeless skids?

My theory is the people pulling out of SPDs were using the multi release cleats. Those are the only cleats that can release by pulling straight up.

I mistakenly bought some of the newer light release SPDs. That was a code brown moment when I had them release going over some roots.
