Hey, Fookers -- aka, the pedal thread

Aren’t bent pins just what happens to pedals?

Yeah. For some reason I don’t bend pins too often. I smack pedals on rocks, but the platform tends to take/show most of the abuse.

Which ones? Most of their pedals have a beveled leading edge.

It seems like it should make a difference but maybe it doesn’t :man_shrugging:

I had the first gen of the Decoy with the grub screw pins. It looks like a parallelogram shape, but it was pretty square on the leading edge. Now I’m on the Black Kats. The Deftrap’s platform looks like a hybrid of the TMAC and the BK.

Now that I’ve said something, I’m probably going to wreck my shit from pedal strike the next time I’m out.

went looking on amazon for new pedals, found some light reading in the process. I assume this is a service manual for flat pedals?

I’ve been rocking these SCUDGOODS and they’ve been good. They fit my bill of plastic platform with metal pins. I think they used to be about 2/3 of that price when I got them. Me and sup have riding Deity Deftraps, and they’re one of the few plastic–erm, composite–pedals we haven’t been able to crack.

TL;DR - Available in lots of colors. Grippy pins. Large, non-offset platforms.

Love my deity pedals. Not exactly fooker priced though

Deftraps retail for $50, which seems to be the upper limit for nylon pedals. Well, except for these:

that’s way more than I ever want to think about pedals

Those deftraps look really nice but I just am not having any trouble with my Chesters that would make me switch right now.

But as soon as I come up with an excuse, I am ordering a pair.

Those pedals are alloy pedals with replaceable nylon cages, not really fair to compare them to an all plastic pedal on price as there’s a lot more going on there. BUT if you do hit something hard enough to break a cage they are only $5 cad to replace, so over time might be cheaper than all others. Definitely designed for the more aggressive rider out there.

What a complex and expensive solution to that problem.

I was swapping pedals last night, when I noticed the wobble. I need to figure out how to check, but I think I’ve bent the spindles on both of my Diety Black Kats.

Post your bike, pathetic newbie

is anyone using feetbelts anymore or are we all just relying on pins and climbing rubber

If I give in to temptation and build up a sw8 fixie then I’ll probably use feetbelts.

I was doing two brakes instead of feet belts, but now I’m just using fookers and a front. For me fixies are for cruising not for 600rpm descents.
