Hey Toughguy! What gear you runnin?

47 X 17 gets me up the hills around where I live but I prefer 47 X 16 going down…
I might switch back to 47 X 16 and suffer a bit climbing.

My townie has 52x21 = 60-something (this was to use the original chainring and a bmx cog I had)
My fixed has 48x16 = 81
My Track has 50x15/14 = 90/96 I generally ride the 15t, but will flip the wheel for the Moto games…

53/19. i think its about 75 gi or something to that effect. It looks like I push a monster gear, but I can still climb all the hills I could when I had 50/19.

22 x 21 on my single track hill climber/ polo bike

50x17 was my golden ratio for a long time.
50x18 for the slow days.
I dropped to 50x16 for some races in florida.

When I get a new bike together I think I’m going to start with a 48x18 or 50x19 to get me back in shape.

34x15 on my polo bike.
JUST high enough that I am willing to cruise around slowly on it.
JUST low enough to make the quick acceleration/deceleration for polo.

44x15 on my IRO
good for hilly areas, a bit spinny in the flats, but whatever.

49x15 on my marinoni/fuji track pro

44x12-25 on my cross bike

53/39x11-23 on my road bike

48X18. It’s great 75% of the time. I can climb a number of hills while still in the saddle. But there are two hills on my regular commute that kill me. I’m thinking about dropping down on the chainring.

Just switched up from 48x18 to 48x17. So far so good. I can still skid in the saddle.

plz tell me you fixed your sons trail-a-bike

52x14 on the russian beast
44x14 on the steamroller
48x16 on the fuji
42x16 on the grocery getting raliegh

I run 45X17 for like 69.4 GI. It works for teh hillz around here.

48/17

42:13

45x17

49x18 and 47x17. Hills.

49:16 cause it’s fast yet very stoppable. 17 on the flop for rainy/lazy days.

Although I’m gonna change to a 52 up front so I can have the feel of 49:16 without the 1 skid patch (52:17 - 49:16 exactly the same). I might even get that Surly dingle cog and switch up between 52:16/17/19.

Use to run 48:17 and for about two weeks 48:14. That was the dumbest decision ever. Took way too much energy to stop, but fuck it was nice being able to hit all the lights for 20+blocks.

46x17 on my Spicer

32x13 on the fixed cross bike, but I think I’m going to put a 15t cog on there. The 13t cog is awesome for flats and moderate descents, but I just can’t get up some of the longer, steeper climbs.

“i’m running 48x15 brakeless right now…top speed is dope, but stopping is a bitch. i haven’t had the opportunity to have somebody clock me on it yet… but i was able to hold between 27-30 for about a two mile ride without trying real hard…”

sometimes i need to be reminded why i look at the facebook fixed gear group.

45x18 for a very tough 65.7 gi :bear:

although my commute home after work is about 1500 feet of climbing…

It’d be sick to set up a bike 52x17 on the road. Big rings are dope.
