Hey, what's your Sundeal?

face nailed it. plus lighter i guess. real real hard on chains though- only bikes i ever broke chains on and boy was it at inconvenient times.

also, 25/9 on 20ā€ wheels is not terribly steep so there’s your acceleration

i miss tiny bikes but have a self imposed ban on riding them

Oh, and shorter rings are harder to bend.

I seem to remember that being BFSSFG conjecture. I know Kenny Williams has been selling bigazz chainrings for track, lately. Like 55T big. But, the average speeds on the track seem to be faster than they used to be, so that throws the theory out.

Nothing definitive, but I haven’t read the whole thing (yet)…

(PDF) more than I ever wanted to know about chain

ok winter is here and its time to dither
i want a folding bike, i love having folding bike!
but folding bike is so heavy
how do i have folding bike that is not very heavy!
and also more than 1 speed!

brompton b75 is only $1k new, so i can probably start searching for one cheaper on the used market.

i know there are a handful of brompton owners here, do i want this?
i’ve had dahon in the past.

I’m working on rebuilding an Xootr Swift with a dynamo and XTR 11 speed, in the same pursuit. curious to see final weight. lots of potential dithering with replacement parts.

There’s tons of folding bikes on craigslist out here.

I haven’t gotten it built yet. It was stripped for paint when I got sick, but i kind of liked it the few times i rode it around before. I’m curious to get on it after dropping some part weight and getting better tires and brakes, but it’s still two weeks out at least.

Bike Friday doesn’t fold as fast or as compact as some, but i think the ridden a lot more of them. I also love the towable travel case.
the swift folds pretty fast, but not at all compact unless you do some disassembly.

um.

A+ paint

F----------- price, but how much time would you have to spend shopping to find another bike that matches the critera of folding, ā€œrareā€, ā€œvintageā€, and tri?

Not saying there isn’t a cool story to that BF or that it isn’t rare and sentimentally priced, but is there any kind of bike less desirable today than 90s/2000s TT bikes?

They should sell it for $250 so it can be out living it’s best life.

2.5 bongs is ā€œI’m trying to sell it but no one’s buying it!ā€ territory.

Guess I’m going to be asking DQs about tiny dyno wheels and fenders now

Regarding the Katu:

Con: I think they’ll only ship to a dealer
Pro: Didn’t get charged for shipping

I’m gonna go slow and cheap, hopefully. Local shop has had a Sanyo dyno in a case for a while with a $40 price tag on it, hoping its a 36H. I have a spare Topline light in the parts bin, but will need to find a headlight, preferably tarck’s favorit Cyo. Have been casually shopping for fenders tonight, but gonna wait to see how the stock tires ride and how big they actually are before lighting the wallet on fire.

Hoping the 139 bag I just bought fits in the basket too.
