I believe big companies know how to put good bikes together. (at the budget they are working with) As these bikes are spec’ed by people that do this shit for a living. They are not idiots.
But what they don’t know how to do is market. Which is why i think a lot of riders are repulsed by these very stupid and tacky themed bikes.
It’s like hip parents that try real hard to buy clothes for their teenage kid. Shit is just not going to work.
but obviously i’m wrong cuz these do sell really well.
but this is just the way i feel about these bikes.
Newsflash: they are not made for us, the biking maniacs who end up building their own bikes from scratch anyway.
They are made for the general public who don’t spend all their day jerking off to bike porn. Different tastes.

I think the langster actually looks ok with flat bars. It’s much more appealing as a dorky performance hybrid than as a hideous corporate-tarck bike.
Even I dont like the standard and theme langsters. I just think theyre ugly… but even the graphics on my Comp are lame. I’ll be painting mine soon… I love my Comp…

I actually like the langster comp just fine.
And the 09 chrome langster looks pretty awesome imo. I think it has brazeons tho (unlike the comp) and that’s a deal breaker.
I’d like to have an aluminum track bike again, but I don’t want a langster.

When I was looking for a track bike, my TRUE LBS (not the one I’ve mentioned before who fucked up with my lockring) told me to check out felt. 80% of the people who work in the shop are people who are track cyclists. The dude who runs the place, who I believe has been doing track racing since before it was the thing to do, thought felt was a really good option.
I personally don’t know squat though.
Who is actually thinking the langster is a real track bike!?
