I HATE toe clips. Need some recomendations.

i cant seem to ever get into my pedals very easily and end up running platforms a lot because i hate dealing with it that much. right now i have some old kkt pro vics on there with plain run of the mill cages. it isnt a matter of my shoe not fitting into it, i just cant get it hooked and slide in there.

so, are there any pedal/clip combinations that are really easy to get in and out of, or am i just a retard?

(also dont say go clipless. already have look keos and sidis, which i love, for long rides.)

i love my clips and straps.

i like plastic mtb clips better than metal ones. last way longer, cheaper, etc.

you can probably get a set of plastic clips n straps for ~$10

MKS steel cages and MKS Stream pedals. The longer you ride the easier it gets.

I’m running some Wellgo M21 MTB pedals, dimension plastic toe clips, and some shitty double straps. They hold my foot somewhat securely but can be kept loose enough that i can get my foot in and out with ease.

Double straps are definitely the way to go. Single straps, especially nylon ones, are prone to bunching up and making it a huge pain in the ass to get your foot in properly. Stay away from the cheap Dimension ones. I have those and they’re made from compressed lint and cardboard. Also, plastic MTB toe clips help because they hold the strap open in two places, preventing bunching and such.

i hate stepping on my clips and bending them thus making it harder to get into because they’re all smushed

yeah ive been looking around. i’ll pick up a set of those plastic ones pretty soon and try em for a while. ive been looking at the soma oppy xx too since i keep breaking straps. the mks streams and touring ones look good. that serrated edge is key im sure. the pedals i have now are all smooth. durr.

I made my own double straps out of two single straps and a square of leather with four slits in it. The homemade doubler keeps the second strap where it should be, even without double-gated clips. The leather is also really comfy, like a sleeve for your shoe. You can keep the inside strap kinda loose and tighten the one furthest up your foot if you have to.

yea cadence changed their doublers but it’s the same concept

those new doublizers look dope. Soma straps suck, worst leather straps on the market? Not sure, but pretty bad. sylvan streams look sweet, I’ve been thinking about getting some myself.

Bingo–I’ve never seen those doublers before but they’re sick. My roommate runs soma double straps and I’d much rather skid strapped into my homemades.

powergrips are always an option too. :bear:

Why did you choose the stream over the track? I’ve been looking at both as options.

The streams double sided, same width as the track, it’s like a cross of the track pedals and the cross pedals.

they seem weird to me, but i would try them, although i dont know anyone who has them and im not about to buy some to try out.

i should just take a dremel and put notches in the edge of my current pedals so i can hook em easeier. now im going to go make doublers out of the suede from a coach bag i found in the street.

I remember a pic from that other place where someone used a zip tie on their MKS stream pedals to help them flip it over, maybe it’ll work on yours too. I have KKT top runs and I notice when I wear my old adidas gazelles w/ worn soles I have a harder time than w/ my newer ones.

thats a pretty good idea. great temporary fix if nothing else…

they’re all the same weight, they just have different teeth. track’s are exactly the same as streams and touring, just different teeth on the edges.

that, and the track’s are always sold out. i wanted them but BTI didn’t have ANY in stock. so i saw the streams which were exactly the same weight and everything but serrated for better shoe grip. sounded like a better idea to me (moar foot retention 4 skidz)

Why do people use track pedals? I was under the impression those were used for wood-soled track shoes. I rode some once and they weren’t very comfortable at all.

For what it’s worth, I’ve seen pictures of shoes that were cut into by MKS Streams. I like my shoes too much to subject them to that. GR9’s look ideal.

Those cadence doubles look like a way to use quality leather straps for cheap. Last I checked they were like $38 for a pair, though, so I don’t know how good of a deal that works out to be in the end.

Powergrips. They’re like $20. Cheaper than Soma doubles! I run them on my MKS track pedals. It’s a little jury-rigged, but it works.
