  • lake oswego. Yup!

How did you route from Troutdale to Carver; over the hill through Sandy, across the Stark St bridge & backroads to Boring/Amisegger, or (mysterious route #3)?

Quick 50 this morning:

71 miles yesterday. We stopped at the top of a hill for snack and someone doing yard work asked, “Did you see the camels?” Rolled a little ways back down the hill to see R.J. and Philip. I appreciate the warped sense of humor of Massachusetts camel farmers.

Did a 30 mile not really recovery ride but kind of recovery ride. The weather was much less nice than yesterday, but I remembered to swing by the cherry blossoms and remind myself how terrible a photographer I am.
Also, 1-800-TOILETS is the funniest phone number ever.

I tried that yesterday with the magnolia blossoms and my phone at Pittock. I gave up and used the big camera later in the day.

very good truck at pantol

espresso and a sparkling cherry limeade gave me the power for the final push back over the GG bridge

Found out about a 70mi gravel race in Mosquero, New Mexico, and decided on a whim that we’d sign up. 5 hour drive down after work on Friday, camped out in the brewery owners pasture, raced all day Saturday and barely didnt’ DFL (38th/39th out of 41, with 5 DNF’s). After the post-ride beers, we found ourselves a lovely dispersed campsite in Kiewa National Grassland and had a lovely overnight. 8" thick futon mattress with sleeping bags and normal pillows is probably the best way to do the weekend warrior vanlife thing. We basically don’t have to leave the vehicle.

Rode Otto Miller for my birthday on the aforementioned beautiful day in Portland. I’m out of shape but it was real nice.

Came across a dude in the middle of logging country playing a full set of drums.
