Omg, that’s what those buildings are! There’s one out in the middle of nowhere northwest of Winnemucca that I’ve passed lots driving to Oregon. Such a weird thing to be out there, all fenced off and nothing else around it, and could never figure out what it was.

My first guess was some government thing, maybe military. Second guess was some weird religious thing.

Mystery solved!

What route?

Went underbiking with sup today and her basket succumbed to a trail event. Fortunately I didn’t have anything in the lunchbox!

Up Cornell & 53rd, Skyline to Saltzman, down Saltzman to Leif and back to the Thurman gate. Trying to ride more FP miles this year, we’re very lucky to have it.

Felt a lot more like summer than winter today - 43mi with lots of singletrack and doubletrack, and strawber-ritas.

@arlew Your friend just reminded me I need more cutoffs for this summer. Tell them thank you for me.

I shall, and will also remind him that hamlets can be cool too.

31 miles today, felt like it was a headwind the entire way, never warmed up as much as they forecast said it would, not the ride I had hoped for, but hard to complain about being on my bike for a few hours.

First overnighter and gravel-puking of the season on the weekend. There is a newish 800km route through Quebec and Ontario called the Log Driver’s Waltz (named after the iconic Canadian folk song by Wade Hemsworth) whose organizers also put together day rides based on the greater route. I can’t rave about rural QC roads enough, short sharp rollers and only a few loose descents. Our route was about 2k m of climbing over 150 km and we were definitely feeling dusted when this was done.

Found an amazing wild camping site beside the water and overheard a beaver slapping it’s tail all through the night as a treat.
