30 miles and 3500’ up today. Was doing good until it hit triple digits, feeling pretty whooped now.

Saw @earwig and partner off on their finger lakes tour! Great riding company, and a sunny morning despite intimations of rain. I turned around after the first bumpy bit to complete a 40-mile figure 8 over Connecticut Hill.

Thanks for the escort out of town @balooon! After we parted ways, we had a nice ride on to Watkins Glen and Corning. Got some culture at the museum. (Note the Chihuli in the background of the last pic - we really know how to make an entrance). Managed to catch all of 10 raindrops, then avoided the first downpour in the museum. Got the tent up before the last storm came through this evening.

Edit: Argh, photos won’t upload. I’ll try again later.

Did my hardest ride in a long time and it was only 32mi and 2800ft. It’s just that most of the elevation was one climb that averaged 9% on gravel and it was raining and cold.

Where was that?

Campbell Global land, just north of North Bend.
We got a yearly pass this year so we need to go back 6 more times.

I need to weasel my way into an invite to ride there with y’all

Yo dawg I heard you like etc etc

Attempted to get a shop to press in new headset but 1.) I forgot it was Monday and my usual place is closed 2.) the local mini-chain is booked two weeks out for service!

Got out before this afternoon’s heat advisory kicks in, turns out there’s a bunch of cool stuff nearby that I didn’t know about:

Press any key to vent radioactive gas:

A pretty cool prairie area, decided it was bad juju to try and ride the hiking trails

And I earned my junior turtle wrangler badge and helped this snappy guy get off the road, he only snapped at me once in the process:

Went downtown to pick up some tubes and decided to take a more scenic route back home. Only got my feet wet once along the partially flooded riverfront trails, but managed to shake loose the pusher cable on a steep speed bump in a parking lot that I was using to detour around the more flooded parts of said riverfront trails.

Middle of winter means riding to the park to sit in the sun.
