There’s options to make it more real. If you park somewhere down by the Hood Canal, it’ll add like 5+ miles and 1000’ vert.
Also, Potlatch State Park is 12 miles from the trailhead on the map. You could work in staying there the nights before and after. They’ve got nice hiker/biker sites.
i rode a new trail that looked like it connected to a road. it didn’t. so i hiked up a very steep embankment in full kit with my road bike. wouldn’t do it again but it was worth it
Not actually in the country; I was doing errands on the mighty 3-speed, and I’d forgotten just how sprightly that thing is when the Nomads are at 80+ psi. I think I’d need a wider range 3-speed if I took this thing up to Ripplebrook, because I’d need to spin like mad for an awful long time to keep a good loop time, but for short 10-30 mile loops it’s fine as it is.
Pre rode a lap of the upcoming gravel state championship race with some friends. It rained heavily pretty much the entire time.
Destroyed what was left of the organic OEM pads in the Growtacs. Had to stop to eek out a bit of pad with the adjusters after having brakes completely go away at bad times.
Course is going to be an absolute ripper regardless of conditions, but it was nice to get a lap in during what is likely worse than race day .
