Will let you know in 8 years time. Thats my plan. No idea what it’s like. I started noticing a big drop off in performance from 55. At 50 I pretty much felt like I did at 40. Its recovery that gets hard. Testosterone levels dropping I guess.
That’s ok I guess but look!, the old Red Line tracks crossing Clark Street are finally down and the train is running on the new trestle!
So clear and open!
Brakes r 4 fakes
WAT
Natty Fabulous
My dad wouldn’t let me run it without them and insisted I run v-brakes because they’re “sexy” and “tarck-approved”.
He makes me wear a helmet too, its the worst.
oh no its happening
Feeling old yet? It’s only going to get worse from here on out
oh no, ok, i just read the other thread and realized that nu person is surfcat’s kid.
this is wild.
i think this is the first multi-generational tarcking?
No way! That’s rad.
Originally my handle was ‘surfimp’ but then at some point everyone put “Cat” in their name and it stuck. I was a fresh faced newb back when the big ban happend on BrianForums and I made an account here just to see what all the Tarck people were gonna do. It’s been a rad place ever since and I’m proud my kids are taking an interest.
Tarking an interest
I met these two on my WFH commute this morning, both training for the Tour Te Waipounamu in about a weeks time. Eileen has no excuse, shes done it before. The first km of this climb doesnt go below 13 % and peaks at around 37 % . I was testing my new 22/40 low gear. I needed it. I’m not getting any younger. From the top there is 7.5 kms of single track downhill. Great way to start the day, if you can stomach the 30 minute granny gear climb at the start.
Tarcklebee nom for the kids are ok / bring your kids to work day
I would love to hear what bike stuff you are excited about… what rides you want to do etc… we’re all a bunch of grumps and over everything, would love some more youthful vibes.
I got pretty interested in fixed gears about a year and a half ago which is when my dad introduced me to tarck since you guys apparently used to be cool like that…
anyways, I built up that Cross Check and have been riding it to school and for errands, but I also do longer rides with some buddies. We usually do 15-25ish mile rides up in the mountains around where we live. We both eventually want to start doing longer rides (50-100 mile) but I don’t know if fixed would be the smartest choice although I bet I could technically do it.
Before my fixed gear arc I rode my Specialized Pitch hardtail everywhere and would do dirt and street riding with my neighbor.
My family raised me on bike since I was a toddler, so I’m used to riding and enjoy it a lot more the older I’m getting.
TLDR: I do 2x tarckcenturies and used to ride mountain bikes
are you going to have a big messenger bag/ backpack phase or skip right to basket life?
If you can ride 50 you can ride 100, just go slow and eat a lot.
what is your taco bell order?
