I can’t believe I’m arguing for cable actuated brakes here, but I did opt for them on my Bike Friday. Reason being I didn’t want to risk kinking a hydraulic hose when squishing the bike into a suitcase or while its being thrown around on a train. Compressionless housing is much less kink prone.
Besides my personal and specific usecase, fucka cable brake
I thought I could make it to work before bad weather rolled in so I didn’t dress for it…but rain/snow/sleet mix started less than a mile after I left so I was cold and wet in the food cart all day. Tried (moderately) hard to bail on my regular Friday ride but my friend pressured me and brought me dry socks.
This was the scene at the bike rack this morning. We met the owners who are another cool queer family and now we’re friends now.
Another guy on a radwagon showed up a few minutes later.
Knew there was a chance of snow, but forgot what 1500ft can do. And being between two mountains. But friends came up from Seattle with some plans. Maybe 10 miles here, then hit up Galbraith. lol, winter is still a thing, I guess.
Dropping down Rick Rolled was a bit sketchy, though still very fun. By this point we were near the end, though it never stopped snowing. We pulled into Galby lot, but opted out since it wouldn’t be fun for any jump trails or anything else. Just went to Transition Outpost for food and warmth.
I really hurt my arm catching my bike as it blew over when I was reading about a bridge over a train yard. Pulled a muscle in my arm pretty bad. Feels extremely forty
I tweaked a side muscle in bed the other night trying to scratch a spot without disturbing the cat sleeping on my lap. That shit didn’t happen when I was younger
no photos but if i had taken them, everyone else in the group would have had my tire sealant all over the front of them. it was pretty funny. dynaplug fixed me up real good
