I went for a ride today and here are some photos

Ok, I see whats going on. They looked super thin from that first angle.

Laterally stiff, vertically compliant

How do you not ride a road called Hog Tommy?

I think this is Fred’s TransAmerica cache.

Hog Tommy was good. If the name makes you think of the Pamela Anderson sex tape, jinx you owe me a Coke.

I rode around the lake and did a bunch of exploring on some roads and paths I’ve never been down before.

MF’ers do be driving 55mph on these narrow country roads, but nobody coal rolled me and most crossed the center line to pass. I only saw two(2) trump signs which was really surprising considering all the vile maga shit I’ve seen around here in the last 8 years. One house that has been particularly onerous in the past had zero signs or flags! Kinda interesting to see and a pleasant surprise for sure. I actually saw one big sign that said “Stop the MAGA power grab!” And one that said “Our bodies our choice! (vote democrat)”.
Also, bike lane blockers are everywhere.

Went from a 100mm -6 to a 110mm +6 stem on my road bike and rode for about an hour and a half. Don’t care for how it looks but go figure it’s more comfortable, and maybe that will encourage me to ride more.

Crossed paths with a friend by chance and rode with him for most of it. Always fun when that happens.

They renamed Mt. Evans to Mt. Blue Sky (the former was a murderous bastard and is not well liked around these parts.)

Anyway, climbed that fucker for a 7th time, it’s like 14,100’ or some shit like that.

I finally understood mountain biking when I went out west. I don’t know why anyone would suffer through what they call mountain biking on the east coast

you don’t like a 900’ 3 mile at 8-12% climb followed by a 1200’ descent that immediately goes to a 1300’ in 4 mile at 6-9% climb followed by an 800’ descent that immediately…

Yeah but like… aren’t you constantly haunted by the fleeting glimpses of a dystopian nightmare just beneath the surface?

Yes, but that’s all of America

Coastal CA is particularly pretty and particularly dystopian though.

Particularly pretty and dystopian describes all of the US coastlines. Coastal NE, coastal SE, coastal NW
