I loved riding the frozen water ditches when I lived in Colorado.
There’s just something about it that’s just so damned fun right?? Did you have any sketchy moments? I’m planning to get spikes and maybe even some rope.
I did break through once but since they’re irrigation ditches there’s never more than a foot of water in them during the winter.
With most of my regular ride areas closed/destroyed because of the fires or close enough to where they were that there’s still a lot of nasty shit in the air, we’ve had to start exploring a bit further out. Turns out Chino Hills state park is pretty massive and has a big network of double and singletrack all across it. Short/punchy fire road climbs, flowy singletrack descents, long flat stretch of fire road through the middle of it (the flat dirt is a real rarity in SoCal). I only took one picture, though
No sauna here, but roads were clear and we’re out of the deep freeze of the last week, so it was nice to get outside for 2.4 Tarck centuries.
that’s a pretty bike
Youre a pretty bike
I was in a crummy mood and then I just pedaled around wherever I felt like going and wasn’t in a crummy mood anymore.
This is the way
Dick move. Did a very hard commute this morning then got to work and decided to go on holidays 4 days early, cos approaching shit weather. Paparoa and Pike River singletrack for me tomorrow and not much time to sleep between now and then. First world problems. Ive never done these tracks.
Sunday ride, frozen puddles, couple of greasy-over-hard spots, got the otherwise very clean hambike real dirty.
Fark. I am poked tonight. Started on the Paparoa track near Blackball. Incredible but very rocky granny gear climbing for a very long time. Some super flash huts on the route. Turned off near the summit to descend on the new Pike River memorial track. Another incredible track in beautiful beech forest. Then a terrible 30 km slog in a headwind on the undulating seal back to the car. Beer and Tea at the famous Blackball Hilton. Home of the Socialist Labour party in NZ. Will start the Paparoa track from the Punakaiki end tomorrow. Do some out and back.
