I went for a ride today and here are some photos

That is really impressive miles and elevation per day, damn!

You make this torture fest sound appealing. Love it.

my strategy was to take as few breaks as possible. when the only thing you have to do all day is ride your bike, big days get a bit easier. I was still pretty cooked after the second day!

Due to some half-assed navigation we took the long route to some petroglyphs and came down this mind bending road

The rock art was cool too

It’s been a year and a half since I’ve ridden anything close to 100 miles so I decided to see what would happen if I tried. What happened is that I got my ass kicked for 9 hours straight. Started with 40 miles of pavement. I figured I’d be nice and in the zone by the time I got to the 60 mile gravel bit but I was already pretty cooked. The 7 mile/1900ft climb at the start of the gravel section absolutely did me in and I limped the 50 miles back home.

I guess I’ll try to get in some 50-60 mile rides before summer.

You rode the highway down to Birkenfeld & then logging roads back?

Yeah…202 to Birk then up and over Nicolai Mountain on logging roads to Knappa then logging roads back to Astoria.

For me 100+ was a thing I could do no problem after warming up a few days to a week prior with like a 50 mile ride.

Evening tarck century, tiny bit of snow but the lower elev trails are clearing fast and it was t-shirt weather once I got warmed up.

I was putzing along but even still it feels like my mellow hambiking this winter has helped me have a tiny bit of fitness, felt better than I expected on this loop I know fairly well.

Still tarck centurying my way back to fitness (now with an ~4 month deadline before an enforced 3 months off the bike.):

… the miniskirt is because this is hot crone spring/summer.
