I went for a ride today and here are some photos

I have not, haven’t even really explored all the closer in stuff either , I have a lot of catching up to do!

I rode my bmx bike for 9 hours today and might never ride another bike because damn bmx is fun

Only took a pic of the park and my broken brake tho. Did ride brakeless for a few hours and it was fun and terrifying.

55 minute ride after work with my visiting work buddy Susie, she bought her own pedals and spanner, for my work loaner bike. 370 metres elevation, then I had to ride home for an hour where I got caught again by my new Strava friend Alex from Berlin. The guy is a monster.

Not sure about that gripshift, but I love those older XTR levers.

I have some brand new 10 speed gripshift to replace the 9 but it’s still rock solid. They are pretty robust levers alright. Cable bb7s. Single pivot Santa Cruz Superlight. Sits in the bikeshed at work. Waiting for the zombie apocalypse, or a spur of the moment lunch time ride. Set and forget. No gizz to dry up in the tires or hydraulic brakes to bleed.

That smile says it all!

feeling very grateful for the sun setting later so I can take something silly like this bike out for a spin through the park after work.

I’m in Arizona for a couple weeks and brought my bike along at the recommendation of Tarck. We worked a 60 hr week, so I felt I needed some time to relax. I loaded up 3 liters of water, started pedalling into the hills until I had half of it left, then turned around.

No sneks, but I did see a giant rabbit. On my way back into town, I passed a kid riding an old sidehack. It was rad.

Training for the Leadville burro race?

@BEEutiful_Wednesday_DDS can’t ride donkeys, too small. Colorado has pack burro racing where you run with your donkey.

They also have mule racing, but it has an extra twist on horse racing. Since mules are sterile, they are unable to keep the lineage like horses.

In non-equine-related events, I shared some gravel with some cows.

That ungulate looked like it had never seen a velocipede before. Some of his compatriots were equally confused, but I didn’t want to fuck around with the two bulls.

The climb finished at a reservoir, but the climb out was hike-a-bike.

The descent was fast and rough. I started getting BRAK FADE by the end. Awkward Tarck™ selfie and bike tax:

Midsized slicks on those roads… hardcore.

The 40c ReFuse has been pretty predictable on most surfaces for me. Muddy clay and sand are their only weakness, I’ve found.

This ride would have been way more fun on the full squish, though.

That looks like a really nice place to ride, what’s the weather like?

I rode a bike today! It was 60 and sunny!

It’s around 3000 ft, so typical high desert weather. From the people I’ve talked to, the high temp in the summer is something like 107°F. It’s better than Vegas or the Mojave, in my experience.
