I went for a ride today and here are some photos

Yesterday I did a ride I’ve been wanting to check out ever since I got my full suspension bike. It has been too wet up in that area to have a nice time doing it but everything came together on plague weekend #1

About 300 ft starting elevation, 1900 at the turn to the downhill trail, a bit of a plateau with a slight downhill grade all on the kind of rock slab seen in photo 1 (the rest of the photos are from the uphill trail), and then dropping into a steeper section straight down a wooded hillside–no photos, too fun. Less than 2 hours riding time. So gooood.

I love those big slabs

SO MUCH SLAB on this route, both up and down. This area is just all rocks. I’m building some trails at my friend’s cabin nearby and I can’t find dirt to build with. I clear trail by pulling up shrubbery roots that are just holding some loam together amongst what I assume is glacial rock deposit. Shovel is useless. It is ridiculous.

Decided it was time to pack up and get closer to the edge of town in case of mandatory lock-ins. Not that I haven’t been avoiding going outside lately, but when it’s enforced, then I’d prefer not to be near the fallout.

My folks happen to have nicer duds and faster internet anyhow. Hard to argue with the enjoyment of tossing together a bug-out-bag and riding ~15 miles on a sunny day.

edit: Forgot to mention that I saw three acquaintances along the way. All of whom I hadn’t seen in a year, about 5 miles apart each time. They called out and I stopped to chat briefly at the recommended distance. Strange times…

Took my Emonda up one of the more bone-rattling mixed surface climbs in town (washboard not pictured). Hail tarckbear for road bikes that can fit 32s and indestructible carbon rims.

@jr.early I’m preppin’ hard for some west slope groad this spring

I went for a lazy isolation ride out in my favorite woods, Markworth State Forest. Took the mtb on a gravel ride because I felt like being particularly lazy and slow.

Hard to tell in the pic, but this hill was actually steep enough that I was a little bit scared riding down it.

Sick view of the Skykomish valley:

Washout on the descent:

Found some local trails I can ride to from my house. Has some really tech and steep sections which is nice to have.

WFH today, first day. They just announced going to level 4 as I was sneaking in a quick 60 mins from home.

What’s level 4?

Embarrassing! Typo on front page…
Pretty much a lock-down. Actually at 3, but transitioning to 4.

That bike is wild!

Stay safe in NZ, friend.

Thanks bud. I hit some nice singletrack coming down off that hill and it ate it up nicely. Dry of course. Feeling lucky I have a gummint job, and WFH options.

Thanks for uploading a nice large pic.

The thing is I can’t tell if you are completely trolling us or genuinely set it up that way on purpose. It’s almost too perfect (though it really needs ergo bars).

PS with love. I know you ride way more than I do and DGAF, but damn, if I saw that thing parked on the street I would definitely snap a pic and upload to tarck ASAP.

I can’t tell if you are funning me or not. It was inspired by Mr Dangerpants WTB dropped Firefly from 2011 and then when I discovered the RTPs it started on many many iterations. Current one is with a Paul’s trigger mount so I can change to the flat bars in a couple of mins. It’s my main dither-bike.

I’m just heckling ya, I love mutts too.

But c’mon, did you expect no reaction from this:
Cross chained, but not really because no front dangler, but still has a front ring.
Disc/canti mullet.
Rolf rear wheel.
MTB shifters on drop bars.
Saddle slammed forward on a straight post.
Sort-of matchy anno parts but then cable housing is just whatever.
But at least the bottle cages matc…wait no they don’t!
Tire labels not aligned with valvestems.
