Huge regret of mine now was living in Hillsdale and not ever riding up to the Skyline
I think this is the right place to post this. Took the dog for a walk this afternoon and saw a family of four ride by me in the neighborhood. I noticed that all four of them (young-ish kids included) had dynamos on their bikes. I was about to say something, then heard them start speaking German, and it all made sense.
That is a tall spinny boi back there.
Went for a quick spin, ended up on the boston marathon route and did a 26m round trip. Loving these hilariously huge risers but not so much on rides this long.
Went on a ride through Kentucky. A lot of roads like this. It was very windy and never flat.
I got hot. The transitions were a success though.
Did some grav grav that ended up just being mud mud. So I had to wash my bike when I got home.
Overall good ride. Would like to do again with less wind.
Strava auto route suggested told me to go on that unpaved road. Which was fine because I was on 32s and I’m hard as fuck or whatever but that is a pretty big problem. It was a bit over a mile of muddy double track.
the bad: I was almost done with a roll of film and I dropped my camera and the back popped open
also bad: turns out I never put film in it in the first place
the hellyeah: I spotted the at-least-three-colors-of-body-panels Subaru Brat that lives somewhere on skyline between Hwy 9 and 17, squealing it’s tires while chasing a caged Miata down 9
Took the ‘valent out for its first real ride. Got recalled home just as I was warming up but I did manage to ride some “more difficult” single track at a big regional park. Berms and shit. I was slow but the bike was fine. Good even.
The new bike excitement was awesome and I easily pulled 20mph cruising speed. Love the confidence and YOLOability of the big tires.
Last golf course hang before they reopen tomorrow. 5 yr old has been getting good at riding in the street and 2 yr old is finally big enough to straddle the skut bike.
Had been doing the same social distance night loop over and over, thought I’d treat myself to some Mt. Penn. Cops shoo’ing people off the mountain, must’ve been packed before I got there.
With WFH and nice weather this week I don’t have much of an excuse to go riding every day. Here’s today’s
been wanting to get out here, but worried about lots of dog walkers and runners on narrow rail trail, how crowded is it?
