I went for a ride today and here are some photos

The Owl Creek leg looked amazing

:smilegrant:

Had planned to ride a 200k Brevet in the Netherlands last weekend, but work and #kids got messy so instead headed out early Sunday in search of some “hills” in North eastern Germany near the Polish border.

Overall the route was pretty remote. Sunday in Germany is always quiet, but east / former DDR is especially so. Think first open stop we saw was a gas station around ~90k

Lots of lovely fall colors in the woods and small towns

Panorama didn’t work, but big surprise of the day was finding a ski jump trianing facility in Bad Freienwalde

Should have been ~160k but we both ran out of juice around 130 and took the train back in town.

I did a dirt Brevet yesterday. Nominally 260 kms. Somehow I padded it out to 288 kms and 7900 vertical metres. Most folks are still out there but I foolishly decided to do the last 100kms in the dark and knock it off in the one day. I spent a shit-load of time in the granny.

That’s up 53rd for locals and familiars

Up past the initial fuck-you-and-your-entire-family ramp, though.

Sunday morning 55km solo loop and the first frost of the season. Mostly (empty) roads and cycle paths with about 10km through the forest.

HY DayRuiner rolled over 4000km for the season
WTH now I feel like I gotta try for 5000…

HY lobstah claws kept the hands nice and warm!
WTH taking the lobstah claws off to take a photo is a PITA

Did a 180km night Audax ride, leaving at 9pm, getting in around dawn. About 170 riders all up, I was in a crew of 4, all with fenders. Got some looks from the fred bunches but it paid off with wet roads and a bit of rain.
High point: at 3am in the middle of nowhere saw a dude in a loincloth carrying a pine branch beside the road in the rain. He said “morning”, I said G’day and kept rolling. Lots of confirmation of non-hallucination at the next checkpoint.
Only took one photo, at the end.

That’s a pretty cool non hallucination.

That sounds incredible. Some of the best rides of my life were overnight slogs, starting at 10 or 11 and riding until dawn. Best time to ride, when daily highs are over 90° and humidity is 85%.

Who’s the rando behind you?

My mate Carlin. It’s a 70s light tourer modded with centrepulls. Swift bag etc.
And yeah, was a great night for riding, temp hovered around 14c all night, tailwind the whole way. Pretty much perfect conditions apart from the rain squall.

It’s like the not shit version of the Polar Express

That was probably 3lb of pastry. The thing on the right was creme filled and the apple tart was still heavier. Definitely didn’t make any progress towards losing weight this morning.

Eh if you’re gonna not care for a morning you gotta do it right atmo no regrets
