People call their road bikes roadies?
i don’t like roadie either. just sounds dumb.
I ride bikes. I like fixed gear bikes because they are practical and simple and fun. I also like road, cruiser, BMX, and mountain bikes. I don’t actually race track bikes because to the best of my knowledge there isn’t a velodrome anywhere near me, though I’d love to try it when I get the opportunity. I am thinking about getting into some form of racing though, but haven’t found anything organized in my area that has beat the clock or your own best time type racing rather then racing other people and I’m a lot more competitive against myself. I’m still learning about that aspect of it.
Who gives fuck what you call it? That issue dosen’t come up much anyhow, as far as I know there are 9 fixed gear bikes in my town, two of which are mine.

Fixies are janky conversions.
Conversions are good conversions.
Track bikes are track bikes that are ridden at least a bit on the track.
Tarck bikes or Street-Track bikes are track bikes that are not ridden on the track.
Fixed bikes can be either good conversions, fixed gear road geometry bikes (with track ends), or track bikes that are not ridden on the track.
Fixed Gear Freestyle bikes are a myth that I refuse to believe in the existence of.
When in doubt (i.e. I meet someone on the street and want to know if they have a fixed gear bike) I use “track bike” or some form of the phrase “Do you ride fixed?”. It leaves them open to the opportunity to be truthful and say “Yeah, I’ve got a conversion that I just finished building last night from an old Ross frame”. To which I reply “Oh, you’ve got a fixie” and then slowly back away.
