Get me into windproof front jersey/shirt/jackets that have breathable arms and back. If I dress so I don’t end up sweaty, my belly gets cold as ice. If I dress to keep my front side warm, the rest of me is covered in sweat.
Maybe a vest is the way to go, but I keep thinking there must be some awesome wool full-zip winter jersey that has windstopper on the front panel only and looks sort of like normal clothing too.
Also, where are my gore-tex sambas with spd footbed?
I like the Precip for camping and general use, but it kind of sucks on the bike atmo. It’s pretty baggy because its meant to be worn with layers underneath. Breathability isn’t great so I get clammy fast. The hood is always in the perfect location to block my peripheral vision. The pit zips suck, pretty much impossible to open or close on the go and when they are open all the way the jacket turns into a sail. When I bought it in 2009 (I think) the waterproofness was pretty good, but it gets saturated rather quickly now and I had some problems with the seams when the jacket was only a year old. If you are mainly going to be using it on the bike I would look into something else.
I got a Mavic Sprint jacket last November and with layers it worked quite well for winter riding. Even in the summer I’d ride in torrential rain and it’d keep me dry-ish (cuz it didn’t breath all that well and no hood). So recommended for winter riding, lighter rain, and heavier rain, provided you have a chance to dry off a little. http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product/OW268A06-Mavic+Sprint+Jacket+10.aspx?sc=FRGL

Front pocket not enough.
Still love my swrve Milwaukee Hoodie (softshell). No jacket changes are planned for this monsoon season.
Need some gloves though. My Gore lobster gloves are starting to take a dump. Any recommendations? I tend to destroy gloves pretty quickly and it’s hard to find gloves that fit because I have long, skinny fingers and the wrists of an 8 year old girl.
Haven’t had it long enough, but my Rab Exodus softshell is rocking it so far. soft-shell “mountaineering” jacket so sleeves are longer for climbing rocks. Went through a few rains showers; so far, so awesome.
I have a Assos habu I can wear down just under freezing. When it gets colder I have a sugio jacket that is pretty warm an under -25 I just wear ski clothing and boots
