It's Electric! A thread for e-bike things.

Also, if your batt dies, it’s a big help.

Interesting to me that the dude who won SBT GRVL was running a 52T chainring with a10-52 cassette. I presume he needed the high gear for downhills but still wanted that sweet 1:1 low.

I wont leave the haus without a 1:1 ! Enjoying the 11-50 on my gravgrav, with an ali-express 40 on the front just now. I couldnt tell the above was an ebike, figured it was the new stigmata with the glove-box. Fork is way slacker than the old one for sure.

IT dude at work has finally built the e-BMX he has been talking about for a while. DIYed his battery, hence the mess. 500 w 48 volt. Hasn’t got a working crank sensor yet.

The Santa Cruz could also be torque limited to get the most range out of a small battery like the Orbea Rise does

He can’t bar spin with all those extra cables.

Also speaking of torque, the torque sensor in my Tongsheng died. However the good news is that I could put the Open Source firmware in Cadence Assist mode which skips the torque sensor and turns in basically into a Bafang.

Thats a good back up to have.

Lots of bad parenting in this article :confused_cowboy:

To be fair I wouldn’t be against keeping these 16/18+. Parents have always bought kids MX bikes but those are actually regulated and I think enough pro MX riders have gotten injured that safety is a big deal, whereas for ebikes it’s like “it’s just a bike how dangerous can they get?”

Also, teens gonna do stupid teen stuff

  1. How many miles?
  2. Are you going to replace it?

Not sure about mileage, couple hundred miles?

It rides way better with the TS so I’ll replace it eventually.

I can’t remember if the gain comes with this (around the bottom bracket area inside the downtube) but this is essentially the wire you need to use. it’s kinda confusing to turn the lights on and off with the controller on the top tube but once you get this wire in, any e-bike lights will work. https://www.bike24.com/p2637272.html

these stories hurt. there’s no reason the phrase ‘e-bike’ and ‘Talaria’ should be in the same idea. need to better regulate in the definition of an electric bicycle for sure

Just going to drop a note here that I have seen at least half a dozen of those REI clearance e-bikes in my neighborhood now. Gonna be weird if one big sale ends up being responsible for putting a bunch of people on bikes

not really an ebike but a potentially nice update to the very weird and cool motocompo

I’m always disappointed when they do things like this and it doesn’t have a special cubby with a charger built into their cars.

not cool enough

also the bike would go for more on ebay than the car now

Maybe the entry City, but not a proper City Turbo II.
