ITT winter bike/biking questions

nothing that wouldn’t hurt them in any other season.
but if for some reason they do get scuffed up, that’ll look so post modern.

They be fine*. I rode those black veeps for three winters and they didn’t show and unusual wear.

*No uglier than they already are. :colbert:

Cool…

I’m down with battle damage, I just have the “wooden” ones and they’d look weird with metal showing through?

We’ll see tho cuz I can’t imagine getting another wheelset… that’d make me a buster.

post modern dude, they’d look post modern.

Does this mean I will have to start dressing to accommodate the new look of my bike? Like… shop straight at Platos closet, but then wear nice oakleys or somethin?

Gaaaahhhhhhhh… its all so complicated.

It’s your winter bike. It should look like a fucked up Frankenstein that’s been to a frozen hell and back.

Yeah… but I don’t have a “dedicated” winter bike now because I converted it to retro direct. But of course… bikes are for riding.

i don’t see why your rims will get messed up. maybe your bartape and saddle from the inevitable falling that will happen.

brake pads + winter grime + paint/powdercoat = paint worn off the rim

First winter-related fall. Coldest morn yet, taking a left on an icy-ass bridge, did a nice, gentle fall n’ slide.

Winter is truly upon Minneapolis.

snowed for he first time here. if it were on the road, i’ go for a ride in it, but seems to be sticking only to yards.

edit: soooooo tempted to go do some singletrack

i fell in the rain yesterday, i don’t even know how it happened, i was going so slow then suddenly WOOP, i somehow went to the left but my right palm got the hit

oh hai winter:

Winterbike shit almost all ordered. I picked up a Centurion Lemans 12 with no wheels, no derailleurs, no saddle etc… I bought some SPD’s for winter riding this year.

holy shit it’s already snowing for you guys? it’s a balmy 48º here and i’m holding off buying winter shit. i guess i’m in denial.

still looking for a cheap 1" threadless cross fork. will canti brakes really help me that much in the winter? i’ve only used single and dual pivot road calipers for the last winters.

it’s really weird that it’s snowing right now. it’s going to be in the mid 60’s on monday, so it’s not like we are in winter yet…just at the moment. haha.

Oh fuck!
The snow is sweeping eastward across the country!
I need my goddamn brake levers!

FFFUUUUU snow! Parts manager needs to hurry up and pay the QBP bill so I can order my shit. Until then my winter bike is just a less-than-comfortable rain bike.

What kind of levers you need?

Vbrake.
Got some Avids on order.
