Cross post winter bike:
looks good rusty
I just ordered some full fenders, bigger cog, excited for the winter
I did however pop my back gatorskins on my other frames fork, sad day, replaced it with some cheap tires from my LFS
If anyone has any special ways to fix tires, post
popped the tire? i have no idea about that, but i have a fairly sizeable gash in a gatorskin. unrepaired, it makes the tube bulge out and looks bad. with a little duct tape and some tyvek (same idea as using a folded up dollar, but cheaper), it’s been rolling fine
Really? i tried just pumping it up, and the rubber was expanding out so I stopped, I’ll try some tyvek right now
my dad has a couple little slices in his gatorskin that has yet to show a tube, i recommended a new tire but no, he likes it how it is…
?I just cut some tyvek off a mattress tag, duct taped on, is working wonders right now, a little bulge you can only feel if you are looking for it, time to return this tire to my lfs tomorrow
thread makes me want to get a wet weather bike. i probably should.
ill probably just cut up some chromoplastics for the rossin, though
DRIVE A CAR YOU PUSSIES
We have one of these at the shop. Its fun to ride… until you get tired and sink into the snow.
Also… I have an eighthinch cog and it seems pretty nice. Its shiny.
On extremely cold rides with clipless, I have felt like my cleat, pedal and crank are sucking warmth out of my foot. Solution: carbon cranks
Carbon kleets!
Oh, another reason, Cleats and pedals can ice up.

Yeah anyone ever use Clicker bindings?
Also, @ evilevo,
i’m curious about the sled bike. What’s coasting like, cornering on hard pack, wheelies/barspins?

Frankly… it sorta sucks.
Coasting on it is almost non-existent on any type of snow because you’ll sink in slowly and it will slow you down pretty quick (so sorta like fixed?)
Cornering on hardpack I duno coz I rode it in more powder (but upper midwest sandpowder). It cornered well, I know that you can just put a front wheel on it for differing conditions… but then why not just put a rear wheel on too?
It won’t wheelie real easy cuz u sink and i think it might screw up the trackers. But i’ll have to try next week when its snowing. Bar spins x 10, but not with the ski… too much camber change.
Its really designed for like… XC MTB type riding but in snow. Def not a commuter. But I wonder how it climbs/descends. I rode it literally for 5 mins before my gf started going on about missing some sleigh ride (groan).
If you search K-Trax it will porlly come up.
Question: Powdercoated wheels + winter… what do you guys think the results will be? Think the PC will get damaged?
Its for my “wooden” veep Ds. Which are sweet.
