Someone actually took the time to dig up all the old high quality archival footage, tracked down all the significant players and got them on camera for up-to-date interviews, and put together a real documentary that encompasses almost the entire scope of this clusterfuck of a story. Check it:
Copy on Cyclingtorrents if you’re not already yawning at the thought. It’s essentially the video version of the Juliet Macur book. And being video, it really fleshes out the personalities and the impact on peoples lives and the depth of the emotions in a way that text can never do. Way better than any attempt to tell this story, including Gibney’s, so far. I’m four minutes from the end and I still had to stop for a second to take it all in and make a post about it. It is especially timely now he’s making yet another push to control aspects of his public image. Don’t go looking for the Esquire magazine article if you’re allergic to bullshit.
The download was worth it just to hear Greg LeMond’s part of the story told better and the interview pieces with Kimmage. He’s a right fuckin’ bastard I could definitely kick it with.
