Leadville Trail MTB 100 2013

I’m publicly stating my goal is to race and get a buckle at the Leadville Trail MTB 100 in 2013.

Fuckin’ go for it, man. Lance Armstrong did it and he only has one testicle.

Edit - holy fuck that race costs $295. That better be one hell of a belt buckle.

Isn’t it invite only? I know a few guys that have done it. Craziness.

Shit, for that price they better give you the buckle even if you don’t finish.

IIRC you have to place well in one of the qualifiers.

True. Pretty good race recaps below.
TC: I hate mtbr for the most part, but there’s some good info if you dig enough.

And for the lulz, the difference between roadies during mtb endurance races and non roadies doing what they do all the time.

^I don’t get it, it looks extremely boring and slow in that group he passed.

It’s for people that are bored and want to put themselves through hell. IMO.

Holy shit! I needed some good lulz right about now, thanks. I would be yelling my head off for them to move over. Also lulz near the end with other riders bottlenecking trying to avoid going through a big puddle.

^ yeah, is the torture of endurance racing the tedium of passing hundreds of excessively timid riders?

I watched that whole thing with face firmly planted in palm. Watching those guys dab on that itty bitty crevice was literally painful for me. It hurt.

Nate. You’re going to need an altitude tent.

Tridorks on mountain bikes? FUUUUUUUUU

I could ride that faster on my road bike…

HELL YEAH NATE
GO HARD IN THE PAINT!
seriously, thats awesome

Holy shit that video. 90% of those dudes make me look fast, and I’m fat and slow. Granted, I don’t think I could go ride 100 miles off-road ( or on-road, either, I guess) tomorrow, but I can’t imagine that riding those trails is any fun at all at that pace.

Also, Nate that’s awesome, especially because you already know how to ride a bike and won’t be learning specifically for the event.

A THOUSAND TIMES YES

The course needs a mandatory technical section at the beginning that you’re not allowed to dab on to sort out all the dudes who need more time on a MTB from getting in the way on the rest of the course.

This is also why I’d love to get into enduro racing if I’m ever going to race MTBs

Announce that you & Alexi grewal are riding as a team. Bicycling needs feel good stories.
Serotta needs some good news too; they can make you a pair of mtbs in huffy/7-11 paint schemes.
