Long lasting tire

I put some Gatorskins on my bike about a year ago and they still ride fine and have not gotten squared off. Gatorskins are pretty fucking nice tires. Everwears ride like shit, in my experience.

[double post]

I’m heavy, that’s why.

just go get free used ones from your LBS

i havent paid for tires since 2007 haha[/quote]
That all depends on what kind of shop you live near. I worked in a commuter/family oriented shop that still got a good bit of roadie business. In two years, I saw maybe one or two tires go through that were rideable. Maybe I have higher standards though. There’s no way that I’m going to ride a tire that had threads showing or is even close. My gatorskins usually got squared off after about 2-3 months (maybe 20 miles a day). Then I would start to get lots of flats due to the thin tread. Then they were in the trash.

i hate posting about tubes and tyres because i feel it will jinx me

but i want to mention that this thread makes me think we have much higher quality roads here. the inner city roads seem to get resurfaced within the decade, and potholes normally get reported and filled in within a few weeks of appearing, and we certainly don’t see any like that “emergence hole”* that blix posted. the outer suburbs have great roads as well, for the most part, as they are mainly recent developments due to the urban sprawl. a lot of the new suburbs have been incorporating much wider roads and/or bike lanes as well, even on very minor streets.

*refer to: gears of war

my town is going (or is already) bankrupt. they dont fix shit

yeah, no free used tires around here buddy.

they still make you pay for them. the used ones are usually about the same as new tire ebay prices, too. its ridic.

Anything a shop would give away for free around here would be beat to shit. Otherwise I am not sure why they would give it away.

I just put my feet down when I need to stop.

haha WIC-KIDS fo life homie!

my back tire right now has a big chunk missing and threads showing. but, it also has an armadillo under it that i cut the beads off of and stuffed in there.

armadillo ? do you have another tire under? sorry im confused

double tires. I was trying to rig something like that up but did a shitty job and plan to revist the idea in the future.

How the hell does that work? Sounds interesting.
