locktite + rubber washers

locking washers?

I used locking washers and threadlocker to affix the Luxos U to my Orc Rack. Works great, and haven’t shifted at all.

How do I wire a shimano dynamo setup

Put the wires in the lego thing.
Put the lego thing on the hub.

Which side which tho

there’s a guide online somewhere or on a piece of paper that came with the hub and light.

Internet prevails!

Guess I don’t have any pics handy. It’s basically a threaded rod sticking out from the rando rack. A nut holds the rod to the rack and a separate nut tightens the light housing onto the end of the rod.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m thinking rubber and/or locking washers are the way to go. Leaning towards the rubber idea so that it does have some give if it gets bashed and I can still hopefully make an adjustment that will stick while out on the road in the event it does get knocked out of position.

Loctite is by far your first priority

Rubber can just give the vibrating plastic light housing more grip on the nut, only use that where one of the mating parts doesn’t move. Lockwashers against the plastic does that even worse, and a split one can shred up the plastic like an auger!

You want the fewest rotating pieces in the system with the most surface area, a wide nut with an integral washer is much better than a small nut with a separate washer

The ideal setup sandwiches the light in double-shear, where the light rotating has no influence over the bolt/nut at all. The chintzy bent-wire mount the light comes with does a fantastic job of this!

Can your threaded rod be re-positioned parallel to the wheel instead of perpendicular? That would let you use the stock fork crown mount on your rack to solve the shear problem.

What’s the proper way to install a secula? The push pins or spade connectors?

spade

There is no proper way, either is fine. I’ve been using the plastic pieces lately without issue. I’ve had the crimp terminals break then repaired them with a bit of solder or new crimp terminal. The plastic pieces could pop off and get lost. They both have their weaknesses.

I think I’ll try to get some silicone or hot glue onto the plastic bits. I do like how they look but I hate how bits of wire are exposed

Why is there wire exposed?
