Should’ve switched it over to your fixed teeth and bombed.
damn, that hill looks intense.
Was very intense 13% grade
Hell yeah!
Shouldn’t have too many hills now
Just wind… It is going to be a minute before I get out of Kansas. I ordered a part from the bike shop in Lawrence(should be there in two more days) but the part won’t be there until Thursday. so I’m going to kick it in Lawrence until Friday morning, and once I leave, Lawrence, I should be in Missouri later that morning. Dang bike parts making me stay in Kansas longer. What will be nice, is I should only be in Missouri for two three days, then in Iowa. I still may be in minneapolis before the end of the month, but I will be cutting it close. Gonna have to ride like I stole the bike
Also, 3rik just pointed out that the cross country for autism are in Kansas also… I emailed them to see what part. Would be pretty rad to meet up with them.

Kansas is only flat until you see it from a bicycle saddle. The good news is that going south to north in the summer is great for some tailwind.

I started this morning with a tailwind, but then it started coming from every direction… Which sucked/awesome, coz at least there was a breeze
lol, after I posted I was thinking “though hills don’t make the same impression while driving”
I know whatcha mean, I hate when you have a tail-wind AT YOUR SPEED, so it’s like riding in stagnant air.
BTW, thanks for text updates… like random reminders of how much I wish I was on my bike instead of wherever I am.
Hahaha, I forget who I send those to sometimes… I just pick random people that I think may want to know what’s going on
The hills aren’t that bad, just the fucking headwinds
Based on your last blog post, you are in Garnett? As far as I know the rails to trails project is in good shape from garnett to osowatamie. One of my favorite hills is between garnett and williamsburg…you don’t want to climb that one Also, from looking at your map you are going through leavenworth to St. Joeseph Mo. I drove through there recently on the way to a mtb race, the scenery will be well worth while. The worst hills that you will encounter in Ks. should be from before Lawrence to the K.C. area. With the cold weather we’ve been having who knows what the wind will be but at least it’s not 105 degrees.
Yeah, I took the prairie trail this morning till ottwa, or whatever it’s called… Staying thennight in, Lawrence with someone off of warmshowers.org. Thanks for the heads up on the scenery and hills that are soon approaching!
Lawrence is a nice little town. Go to University of Kansas, find fly hunnies, let them comb your beard.
I’ll be here for a couple of days, so I may just have to do that. It was a wet ride in to Lawrence, I’m completely soaked…my hands look as if I’m seventy-eight rears old
My host in Lawrence is pretty damn awesome! He has a couple of tandems and a lemonade, trek roadie, speaclized mtn, cannondale roadie and mtn.
Lawrence seems like a cool little town, almost has an Austin feel to it. Gonna go to the local brewery and back to the bike shop tomorrow. Hopefully I will get some better pictures, than what I got today.
