More power babies! (as requested by turp)

0 miles this week. Its monday. I’d be happy with 78.5 tho!

I bought the thing that makes my fluid kinetic trainer from forever ago into a smart trainer just by putting an rpm thing on the spinny bit. Let’s me play zwift for $20 and I don’t have to mess with my shitty and fiddly bluetooth speed and cadence sensor.

Tell me more? What is it linking to? A phone or laptop. I’m looking at the cheap-arse options too.

I got the inride 2 which only connects to one app at a time

For some reason it is super cheap and the 3 is $50 still. I think it was $80 last time I looked a year or 2 ago.
I don’t see why I would need it to connect to my garmin if I am getting all the performance tracking through zwyft and using strava as my data homebase… does anyone see a problem I am not here?

A buddy left this in his letter box for me. It does cadence and speed. Have set it up. Connected even… Phone does ANT. But I keep getting an error…
Time-out - Unrecognized result… or something

Early days. 7 days free with Zwift. Will try again tonight after work.

Took me forever to get mine to work. I got a Bluetooth speed and cadence thing like that. I had to keep spinning the pedals to keep it awake to pair.

Zwift can be a huge pain with pairing. It’s usually not the sensor. We have tons of issues with the sensor timeout on zwift pairing screen…

Let me know if there are any basics I need to get right. Ive got new batteries in my powertap so Im interested to see if there is any relationship to Zwift watts, as its a completely dumb trainer. Cycleops Mag.

Nailed it. One of my phone’s just kept dropping the connection. Used another and it’s all good. Funnily, at moderate cadence Zwift is reading 30-40 watts hight at 200 watts, but at high cadence, it came right down.

I just want a computer to tell me I am doing massive effort.

Can I interest you in a piece of masking tape and a sharpie?

What would be the best way to create .fit workout files to put on my Dash so I can have turn-by-turn intervals? The Wahoo used plaintext files, so it was pretty easy to make my own.

That’s a question @amy knows more about than most other people. Or you could email stages and maybe they can help.

Do you have a link account? Can probably help you out with a promo code for premium and you can build your workouts there… You can basically put in descriptions for every interval and just enable the overlay notifications for workout and that should do the trick.
I can test on Monday to make sure it works, but pretty sure the interval description will pop up in that overlay…

My Link account ran out before I could siphon the workouts off. I’ve also got some workouts that are trapped on TrainingPeaks, but I can get those off the Wahoo. Originally, I was building workouts with Golden Cheetah and sending those over.

My usual training workflow is done by keeping the workouts on the unit, then choosing the one that matches the calendar. It keeps be from having to do hypoxic math with a running timer, is all.

Edit: It looks like I can download the .fit from TP after I drop it on the calendar. It looks like that may have done it, because I can load those on Dash now.

Yeah, you can put any .fit workout file in add_files and it’ll load up. Lmk if you want to build your own on link, just DM your email used on the account.

4x10@sst (303-349w) hurt on Thursday. I contemplated skipping the last set, but nixed that because I didn’t want to just freely spin for the following 15 min. I find z1 on the trainer to be antagonizing on the trainer. But it’s also too damn hot outside in the afternoons after work to ride outside.

I find anything on the trainer to be agonizing. I could never get past 20m at any intensity.

SST is 303-349? What’s FTP?

I have it set at 360 right now. Haven’t done a new test in a min, but, even so, basing my workouts around that should get me there. I really need to get a powwameter on the Scott so I can see what I do outside, but I’m really only riding it on the weekends: and when racing returns, power data only means so much on the day. Great to look at, but really meaningless.

Did the red rock loop, for the backwards, for the first time, and, although I wasn’t realllllly going for it, I’m still struggling on the longer climbs against the skinny folks. Killed the descent though.

I have the opposite problem. I don’t mind easy spinning on the trainer, but anything above z3, and I start to have problems. My guess is it’s at least partly because I have trouble with heat regulation since developing a bunch of hormonal issues, but it could also be that the trainer is just the worst (even though i ride it a lot).
