Rides a 1999 surly steamroller with a big chain lock around his waist. Like it’s 1999.
That is pretty consistent with my recollection of that era. Around then I was riding a steel De Bernardi that had made the rouds of all the other tall messengers in town, Kryptonite mini stuffed in the back pocket of my Dickies, carrying my tags in a first generation Chrome bag that I won in a game of dominoes. Big brick 2-way radio, separate pager clipped to my radio holster.

Question:
Haven’t been mountain biking lately. Pugsley has a basket on and it’s beeen my fun-müter for a couple months. Should I buy Black Floyds for my other wheelset and embrace that and just have it be a party bike for a while?
I thought there was one tarckolyte with a pugs with slicks, who was that?
Black floyds look dumb. You would probably love them.
2 $90 tires for a fat tired townie seems like smart money
shart man had/has a fattie he ran some big slicks on. I think they were 29"
I have some 29er Vee Tire gravel tires i have been saving for a city or cargo bike when I eventually build/get one. They are basically big slicks covered in tiny knobs like a small block 8. Not exactly fatties though
I usually run Schwalbe Super Motos on my Pugsley with 29er wheels. They are the best tires ever made so of course they don’t make them anymore. The options now are the Big/G-Ones which are fairly delicate or tank Big Apples. Hoping my Super Motos never wear out.
I also run Vee8s on my fat wheels. They roll pretty fast for a fat tire, still give you some tread, but mostly just suck. They are better tubeless, but handling it still pretty garbage. TC I really want to try those Vee Apache slicks but I don’t think they’d fit in the Pugsley frame
But, I’m mainly using the Pugsley to take my dog on rides to the park, so maybe I will go back to trying out the fat wheels again.
Ah, Shart, I thought it was you. I did try those Vee tires before and I’m pretty sure every tire in the line sucks (I’ve only gone through three).
I have a bead (lol) on a pair of Black Floyd’s for $100 total. Gumwall. I pulled the trigger. If I hate them, some other 45-year-old white guy in new Hampshire will get to live the dream.

Got a rear flat on this bike last weekend on my way into the city. Bolt-on rear hub, and I wasn’t packing a wrench. Walked 5 blocks in my neon yellow Giro mtb shoes, wearing that pink leopard chain lock. NORE GRTS.
This was my inspiration:

whatever you see on a Blue Lug build
do the opposite
There’s a fat-tire longtail kid-hauler rolling on gumwall floyds I’ve seen around town and it looks hella fun.
