I’m trying to decide between this one and the CCCX on the same day at Ft. Ord for my first race.

Did 18 miles of snow and ice this morning. First race 4/3/11

REBA. that’s the only other fork other than the F29 that i’d consider.

i’m so glad there are trees where i live, even if our hills are little.

Put 45 miles on the mountain bike today. Ouch.

Slickrock is also more than acceptable.

But fukka sploded shards of shale and dry field grass as far as the eye can see.

i think it would be sorta cool. but then again we got plenty of trees round here and sometimes we kinda get into fights.

dq: so, the valve on my fork is a schrader, but the stem is pretty short and it doesn’t really get along with my PFP-3, which doesn’t even engage the valve unless i stick something in there, and even then i can’t get enough air in or do so with any sort of precision.

do i just need a better pump? anything in particular? would it be dumb to try to take some material off the face of the shitty park pump head in attempts to get it to work?

have i mentioned i’ll be riding on the 29er crew this year?

superfly elite frame and some xx parts on the way.

anyone wanna buy a used 175mm fifteen g ss crank+bb?

or a bontrager ss crank for cheaper.

6th overall in open class. 535 TSS for the race today. Pretty much spent the entire day in HR zone 5 (170bpm+) at about 4.5 hours.
Marathon course, so of course I got passed by the pro XC guys hammering it out about halfway into my second lap. Those guys were fast.
Marathon course had some really fast guys too. I managed to hang on for the first lap, finishing it 6 minutes faster than all my other laps, that were right under an hour save for the last one where I cramped up badly.

great race!

I remembered to drink plenty of fluids (6 bottles in all)
and used up almost an entire flask of hammer gel raspberry.

Need to remember to bring along some extra endurolytes/thermolytes to battle the cramping around hour 4.

Oh, me me me me me sell them to me immediately.

Edit: If cheap. And check your PM’s

woah! Congrats TK on becoming a 29er crew member. VERY awesome.

thanks - congrats on the race.

i’ve been reading some blog posts at the 29er crew site and it sounds like everyone is super fast. it is pretty loose knit and really spread out, so unfortunately i won’t likely be doing any carpooling w/teammates, etc.

i just have to race (a trek 29er)fast, and be involved with the sport.

i also get to look good:

Yeah how’d you manage that?

probably for being some sort of badass. nice work, man.
