Can’t use a mtb dangler and a road pusher
that hugeass flashlight though, what the fuck?
It is an LED flashlight.
Guys you know how trade shows work right? Concept cars? That kind of stuff. It’s just supposed to be pretty and show the direction that the exhibitor is heading in. Then they make a workable thing for production/sale.
We do know how trade shows work. Clearly, Panasonic doesn’t, or they wouldn’t have mounted that abomination of a light on there.
“It’s just a trade show demo bike” would excuse a fancy-looking light that doesn’t work or one that puts out a miserable little beam on the ceiling. Not that.
It would be a different story if the rack and light(s) were black
It was definitely weird to see that booth. They showed a couple bikes to a market with no timeline. The gentleman didn’t even know if Panasonic has committed to entering US market. What was the point? If he said “oh within the next year or two” there would possibly be something to get excited about.

lol how do you know how the light works or if it works at all. I assume it works like any other LED torch that people use as a headlight. did you even read the posts here before replying?
It was the derailleurs that wouldn’t work together without two separate batteries. The headlamp is clearly harkening back to an earlier era of rando bikes. What’s the big deal?
I tried the mounted hand torch, it did not work at all.
no batteries bro
Can’t use a mtb dangler and a road pusher
with di2? i’ve seen it done more times than I can remember. My teammate has an xt dangler with 6850 di2 shifters and it works great.
Panasonic was just trying to capture the urban DUI demographic. Flip those bars up, zip tie a maglite on there, bingo bango you got yourself half the bikes ridden in a city.
I was confused. only works for 1x. carry on.
Pushers are front derailleurs.
Yes you can run road shifters with JUST a rear derailleur, you can even run road shifters + mountain front derailleur (and crank) + mountain rear derailleur.
However, you can’t run road shifters + road front derailleur + mountain rear derailleur.

No expert, but this sounds like it would only take a firmware to fix. Fucking Shimano, why wouldn’t they make this happen?
What is the point of this Yelp review?

Is he mad he didn’t get invited to the post-show brodown?
I’m with him on the idea that NAHBS was an important incubator for a lot of 2010s industry trends. I’m curious if that’s going to continue into the next decade.
My needs in custom bike land are met by anyone who can tig up a big road frame and powdercoat it a fun color, but it’s nice to get to see a lot of fancy bikes all at once. Maybe regional shows like the one in Philadelphia or the one that pizza place in SF did a few times are the next wave.

The mtb dangler is able to run up to a 42t cog and the road pusher can handle a 53t big ring. People would try to make that cross gear work and no way that’s happening without tearing off the RD. If you run some nerd crank or say a 46/36 and an 11-40, the chain will rub the top of the FD cage in the larger cogs. Current di2 prohibits a small-small cross gear because in many cases the big ring will interfere with the chain. Current gen road di2 offers a 1:1 34/34 small combo and can cross chain 53/34. Current di2 doesn’t allow for a small-small cross chain so you determine chain length in the small ring and 3rd cog up out back.
edit: new page derp

I thought he actually had some meaningful opinions there because he wasn’t writing about bikes, hahaha.
Edit new page, whoops
