My Rapha is still an excellent piece of bike clothing, though i might go for the Sugoi if I had to do it over because it’s cheaper, blacker and 100% wool-er. On several snowy winter rides though the rapha has been simply outstanding.
i got one of the ebay raphas. it’s already a little pilly in the front from my helmet, and the bill is fairly ineffective in the rain or snow. i like something a little stiffer that i can shape and pull a little lower. it is warm.
top coz winter is soons
cdale/sugoi still reigns supreme.
super e-z to make your own. get some cheap old wool trousers and go to town.
Go to ANY bike shop buy/order the merino Pace jam.
This never needs to be talked about again.
I miss my wool Chuy cap.
Listen to this man.
D.O.G. has these Swobos on sale. Only yellow/black though. These are quite thin but pretty warm IIRC.

Why not just wear a beanie?
I sometimes do when it gets below freezing, but a bill keeps the rain out of your eyes.
i bought one the rapha ones a few months ago
was $35 with free shipping
the good looking wool one
got it to replace an old school gazelle one
coz it fits kinda weird

^^ smae goes for snowflakes, although since they fall slower the bill works somewhat worse
Ah, I guess here I just wear a cap for a few weeks until everything just fucking freezes.
I bought some Oakleys with a clear lens hoping that’ll sort out the snowflake-in-the-eye problem.
Does the CDale/Sugoi cap fit large heads? No one around me has it in stock.
Seems to.
anybody use the castelli cap? the cap i just lost was just fleece and i never felt myself wishing for wool last winter.
last year i had the $30 rapha belgium ebay jawn and two old euro team ones
none fit my head very well, so i sold them all. (i have a VERY small head) so i just used a micro fleece beanie cap over a regular cycling cap until i lost that hat in march.
^ i’ve now lost 7 caps in the last 4 or so years.
TC: I don’t think I’ve ever lost ANYTHING.
