I wish I had snapped up the remaining CODA Tarantula cranks when I had the chance.
Is it this one
I really like my 46/30 on the 94bcd old shimano mtb cranks, but my inner ring is a turdly surly that gets massive chainsuck on anything over 8 speed chains. Very poor decision on my part.
eTap shifts fine if set up properly. Honestly, it shifts better than the new 9100 mechanical gorilla. So disappointed at the 9100 gorilla.
Pain in the ass to set up too.[/quote]
Really? I only built 1 bike with 9100 so far and yes it takes a bit more time and effort, the end result was great IMO. In fact I think that is the main highlight to the groupset. Compared to 6800/9000 it take a lot less fucking with cable tension and limits to make work well. I have built ~20 eTap bikes and the only downside I’ve had is how loud those damn 1190 cassettes are. Also Sram Yaw Fds,whether mechcanical or etap, work great IMO

I just don’t feel as though the shifting in the front was as mind blowing with the new 9100 gorilla as everyone expects it to be. I mean, it’s good. Real good. But not OMGDUR ACHEE good like I want it to be.
OK, x-post from that other thread about the Shimano Metrea. Looks like it uses the 4-bolt 96mm bcd like their mtb cranks, so inner ring replacement should be fine. But, I’m sort of worried about being able to ever replace the 46t outer at 96bcd… Thoughts?
Also, is there a cheap source for the XO601D right now?
Surly’s OD crank has a 96 BCD so you have a whole bunch of rings to choose from there.
Edit: no, it’s 94 BCD, nevermind.
buy another 46t or 3, they’re only like $10

This little lady with Cobb cranks (NERD) and rings marked 10/11 upgraded to eTap, and the front just wouldn’t shift under load. Worked fine in the stand but ceased to function when she got on the bike. SRMA wouldn’t begin troubleshooting until their own rings were installed on the front. Now it works ok, still not the crispiest.
TL;DR eTap FD shifts like doo unless you use Red rings, apparently.

Some prices that are better than Merry Sales/Soma
Maybe there was a Tarck-deal with Endpoint, I don’t remember.
I purchased a set when prison island had them on sale. The inset for the pedal thread on the NDS is about 2 or 3 mm deeper then the drive side thread cuz bike industry.
These are available now:
(not mine, stolen from the webz)
Where do I even go to look for those? I see Rotor cranks in various wholesale catalogs, but it’s always for non-nerd 110 cranks, etc.
The guy from the picture says he ordered his from the UK.
Seeing them on euro sites, nothing on the US site yet, because the us bike market is balls.
Rotor Usa has them … only for 30mm spindle cranks. Which is pretty “meh”.
Same a FSA. Apparently they’re trying to sell more BSA 30 bottom brackets.
a LOT more.
Pretty confident in the nerdability of these old suginos. Mounted them on a 68x118 un55 and they had about 2mm of clearance to the chainstays. Chainline looks darn good but I haven’t put the 10sp wheel on yet. They were hitting under heavy load, but 10 minutes with the metal file seems to have fixed that.
I know, I know. I’m a monster. I don’t care.
etap and mechanical set up fine for me. I found the mechanical (force) less able to handle shifting to the big under power. I have to ease up a bit. I don’t have to with the mechanical Campagnolo, Di2 or etap.
I love the two hash marks on Sram pushers. It takes all guesswork out of rotational adjustment and most of my bikes have clamp pushers. Installing one takes about 1 minute and it’s perfectly in alignment.
I just emailed some guy at Merry Sales about my busted Sugino nerd cranks. I’ll report what happens here. I wonder if the recall is still in effect.
