Ok current plan. Selling the troll ( listed on CL) upping my gearing on the polo bike since I haven’t been playing and using that as my only bike till troll is sold. Then probably replacing it w/ on one pompetamine which will see 700c commuting wheels and 650b knobby with my cannondale bad boy fork. Which since it’s routed for an IGH I can run my m800 Rd with the horizontal adapter plate and a wide narrow front ring. Then I’d have something that would handle better a ton better on the road but would have enough clearance to smang some dirty bits.
2015: dithering about building up a hardtail. Get a Parkwood or Yelli Screamy frame and use wheels I have? or 27.5+ one of those? Or 27.5+ the Gary Fisher Paragon 29 frame I have that’s got a highish bb but designed for 80mm fork? I want low standover, slack trail geo, short wheelbase, flickable.
I guess I should take actual inventory of parts needed to build ss tarck Davidson. Could be fun.
Really I wish a few bikes I have would just magically evolve into the bike I really want.
I’m happy with the couple of bikes I ride. I just wish a couple of the other bikes would evolve into cash/space in the garage.

Maybe send both sets of C9 shifters out to have them rebuilt by someone who knows what they are doing this winter.

My girlfriend moved to Austin, and I’ve already brought a road bike down, but now I’m thinking about getting a hardtail to keep there, as well. I’m thinking about one of the new Kona Honzos.
I also gotta figure out a mountain cycle.
SS commuter needs new headset and BB. Might not do it though. I’d like to get canti bosses brazed on to run v brakes instead of the current 990/bmx single pivot mullet.
Trek tourer needs a working front mech and new cables. I’d like nicer tires too, since I had to replace the slashed rear with a heavy conti turd while on tour this summer. I think the fork is a little out of alignment too?

I would suggest marinoni for both forks and C9 rebuilds. I just had a 1" threadless fork custom made by them for a ridiculously reasonable price, 740g with the full 300mm steerer too.

Was previously considering a Minimal for the road bike, but I think steel might suit my needs better. Especially if I can get something lightweight like yours.

Yeah they’ve been distributing campy for a long time they have stock of pretty much everything going back to 8spd era, maybe more but it’s not in the catalogue. At the shop if we don’t have the parts or time we just send shifters in for rebuilds. They can also convert 9spd shifters to 10 if that’s something you’d want.

Thinking about bolting one of these onto my Rohloff, making it possible to run it with shakes.
Problem being, do I want to switch out my perfectly good Hylex for SRAM road hydro, which probably, almost certainly won’t spontaneously combust anymore, but will cost about a bong on parts… am I going to love shakes that much? …probably
Also thinking about getting someone to build me a steel fork for LowTrailLyfe, but need to figure out if the frame geo would be a good candidate… (paging Dr. Fredd…)
700c or 650b? do you know what the geometry is currently? from all the internobbing ive done it’s basically 73deg HT and ~60mm rake for a road bike.
my dull bike plans for the sweet commuter im assembling for myself in lowtrail and porteurrackway. the rack from the ahearne cross frame i had fits on the rawland fork just fine. no fender mounts in the back but i’ll figure something out. wheels are being built and i need to find a BB/crank situation and figure out the magic ratio for singlespeed. I’ve got a 17t cog on there and im thinking i need a 44t ring.
Hey Mig, it’s 700C.
As I understand it, the headtube at 71.7º is a bit slack for a lowtrailbike (current trail is 55mm). Also need to figure out whether it’s gonna change tire clearance (currently supposed to clear 700 x 45 without fenders, but I haven’t tried it)
you could build the second fork a little shorter to steepen the HTA while adding offset for lower trail while keeping similar clearance & frontcenter
there’s plenty of room for the STA to steepen and the BB to drop as side effects
