Yeah but the stoker is sucking your wheel 100% of the time which is annoying

But you’re riding the stokers bike so technically sucking your own wheel. This is literally how tandems go fast.

riding a tandem is like winning and losing a cat 6 race at the same time

can confirm- have simultaneously won and lost the tandems class in several races

But you don’t have to get ribs removed to be able to suck your own wheel, which is pretty awesome.

ohhh ha ha haaaaa oh ok so look all the dummies that put money into this: you should have taken that million dollars and bought a rental property in a midsized city or a bouncy castle rental castle business or like, a bunch of delicious mangoes or something

Maybe it’s just me but I think a company should move toward rideable prototypes, and in fact successfully make rideable prototypes before seeking outside funding. The bouncy castle idea seems much more sound than this thing.

I feel a little bad for anyone who invested the $1000 minimum for this
Good for the Ceramic Speed folks though I guess

That site looks like it is built for the kind of person who thinks $1000 is play money so I’m sure they don’t care

one in what, ten? kids in the united states face chronic food insecurity. I get that a thousand bucks for a goofy bike thing is peanuts compared to real wastage, but man, it comes to mind whenever I see ridiculous investment stuff like this.

This isn’t new but I think it’s the headset tarck dreams of minus taf colorways

I bought one of those back in the day and was unimpressed, no attempt to create any sort of bearing seal to separate it from the outside world, price is comparable to Token needle bearing.

On the subject of headset bearing’s…

Yesterday a friend on my MTB ride mentioned that his headset bearings were roasted on a bike that was under a year old.

I have never replaced headset bearings on any of my bikes all of which have no creaks or wiggles in them.

Do bearings actually wear out that fast, is he being a trail prince?

Sounds princely. Ask him how he knows. Some people take pride in roasting their parts.

It happens, especially if it’s unsealed or exposed slightly to the elements.

Did he loosen the stem bolts before pulling the star nut out of the steer tube?

He knows well enough how to work on bikes @Face

It very well could have been exposed to shit we both ride muddy trails all winter… but… I guess I am asking more so because I might be riding around with fully roasted bearing… but if I am and cant tell then does it matter?

He is also an engineer and is V particular about bike set up…

I thought I had destroyed a headset, but after I took it apart, put some grease on it, then reassembled it properly, it has been fine.

Could be he is like me and just kept tightening it when he shouldn’t have like I did and then became convinced it was fucked like I did

Nothing like roasting your bearings yourself
