New & Interesting Bike Campenaerts

We are now also using new larger top tubes and seat stays for the size 61R/T frames to add further stiffness for the largest frames.

25.4mm - 20/30 oval - 0.7/0.4/0.7

vs.

28.6mm - 25/32 oval - 0.75/0.45/0.75

That looks interesting, if I didn’t already love my coffee grinder.

Holy shit the design notes are a work of art in themselves. Should be bound together in a gold embossed hardcover.

that’s a really interesting document, I’d love to see that from more manufacturers showcasing their design decisions and fabrication processes.

here’s the one for the Secan btw https://fairlightcycles.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Fairlight-Secan-Faran-Design-Notes.pdf

I thought this thing was pretty cool, and I like the race format!

I’ve ridden my track (racing) bike on a gokart track. super fun, but super sketchy turning. Bigger tires would seem to make it more fun.

All the way in on fat tire fixed gears. Surprised at runny horse tires.

I bet a high bb tracklocross would work well. My Poseidon also has no toe overlap. Could be fun.

the obsessiveness of these framesets is pretty anxiety inducing, and I’m not saying that in a bad way.

the bolted on aluminum brake mount and special dyno routing for 30mm+ spindles is definitely making it teeter on the edge of too much though

regardless, would 100% buy one of those if I didn’t already have other plans

ā€œThose small 30-35mm diameter butted chromoly steel tubes were also specifically chosen to give the bike a more springy, less stiff ride to lean into the tight turns and jump out of them without losing grip, rather than the harsher-ride of an alloy frame.ā€

Sounds like horseshit to me. All the thin tubes do is reduce your acceleration a bit if you mash hard out of the corners. The wide tyres give more grip in the corners idea is highly dubious too.

I feel like this is extremely true and obvious from my experience

Huh? Why would it not be true? All else being equal, contact patch size is closely associated with cornering grip in both cars and motorcycles.

I’m sure there’s a limit, but I can believe that it’s more than 30mm.

TBH personally I’d be more worried about folding a tire than anything.

A 35mm DT is double-oversized for chromoly tubing, and stiff as hell

Even after having been debunked numerous times, people are still chasing the ā€œdead zoneā€ with dumb ideas:

Wow. This dumb dummy just reinvented the original Rotor cranks.

Why is it always a retired engineer and they test it on a Walmart bike with bad techno

They might have missed their opportunity to ā€˜invent’ some stupid bike garbage when they were in school like every other engineer.
